More news about the ATA show
About this Mathews VS Bowtech. They e-mailed me this is what the ceo told me .Mathews didn't beat us because they didn't shoot against us. They took a bow that they made specially for the showand shot it at the show. They didn't shoot their bow during the test but said it shot at 340,it didn't even have their strings on it.They made special ones for the show.We took a stock bow off the rack and fiddled with it without a bow press and they tested it on the machine and it shot 335 and was 1/2" short on draw length(which would make it shoot 5fps slow)Their bow had a one and one quarter" lower brace height than ours and had a let off of 44%(ours 65%)and they made us back off the weight of 2pds.by their scale. Our scale read 70#. They didn't beat us,you could say they tied us just on speed.

RE: More news about the ATA show
Am I missing something here? I thought Bowtech had a bow with a 350+ IBO rating.

RE: More news about the ATA show
Bowtech's bows hav IBO speed "ranges" in order for the customer to know that not all of their production bows will shoot at the high end of their speed rating range. There is normally around an 8 fps difference between the high and low ends of the range.

RE: More news about the ATA show
They are comparing solocam to solocam. If you call 20% less let-off and 1.25 inches less brace height a comparison.

Sounds like another pissing contest to me.

Who gives a s@#$! Did it ever occur to any of you that if Mathews wanted to make bows faster than Bowtech they would. What, you don't think Mathews has the technology? What are you crazy? Look at any bow on the market and you see mathews inovations, Especially Bowtech. Do you think Matt Mcphearson cares? He is out selling Bowtech 50 to 1. And even if that ever changed who cares he is allready rich. What is 10 or even 15 fps anyways, who cares, as long as the bow is quiet, smooth, and accurate. If speed was the most important thing in archery than you would see alot more companies focusing on that instead of more quality parts, design and better all around bows for the general population. Maybe someone should start a custom bow company"Speed Bows Inc." and they could custom make each bow per each customers specifications so the 1% of people who care about speed have a place to shop. In the mean time Mathews will still have the majority of the market place. Not trying to start an argument just do not see what the big deal is.

It occurred to most of us that is not the case! You really don't know much about the backgrounds of the companies or their engineers do you?
quote:
He is out selling Bowtech 50 to 1.

I am sure he wishes that was true! I am sure he outsells Bowtech bya a healthy margin but they have been in business for 10 years and they already have their infrastructure in place! To put that in perspective for you; Bowtech sold more bows in their first year of business than Mathews did in their first three years of business combined. They doubled sales the following year and then doubled that number the following year. Making them the fastest grwoing bow company of all time!
quote:
What is 10 or even 15 fps anyways, who cares, as long as the bow is quiet, smooth, and accurate.I

I agree with you totally. But, if you can have all that and the speed too, then why not do it ( since they have the technology and all). I mean if they can makes bows just as smooth and quiet as they do now and make them shoot 15 fps faster then why not do it to grab those consumers that do care. I mean since they already have the technology it seems like it would be a no-brainer.
quote:
In the mean time Mathews will still have the majority of the market place.

You are absolutely correct. But, that's rolling downhill like a Bowtech Snowball that's headed for hell! You should probably step and take a few deep breaths because you are going to be seeing allot of these type posts in the future. As the baton passes and it's no longer "cool" to shoot a Mathews you will see allot of non-Mathews shooters taking friendly shots at the Mathews shooters who are now bitter because they are part of a fading trend! Just like the Mathews shooters have always done to those unenlightened non-Mathews shooters. Doesn't feel good to be snubbed does it? RE: More news about the ATA show
Mathews or Bowtech I do'nt care. Trend or no trend, I do not follow trends.I was only saying who cares about speed. On your post about Bowtech selling more there first year well duh! Mathews brouht out a new idea and marketed it. Bowtech rode the coattails .Archery is a much larger sport now than it was in 1992. Alot of that is because of mathews. Obviously as the population grows you have more potential buyers, right. So intern Bowtech is on the new improved more populated and larger customer base train. That would help in their success story. How about the internet? Were we talking about Mathews on the internet when they opened,NOT!Alot of products you would not even know of with out the internet.I'm taking nothing away from Bowtech and I'm not for any brand of bow,but it is a hell alot of easier to sell a solocam to a weathered buyer than it was ten years ago.Personally I could care less who sell the most bows anyways.Find this out how many bows were sold as a whole in 1992 and how many in 2002 and you will see how the customer base grew and why these companies have so many more customers to appeal to.

Bowtech, is really pushing their Dual Cams allot harder than they are their solocams.
quote:
I was only saying who cares about speed.

I don't personally care who can make a bow that shoots the fastest but if I can have my cake(a smooth quiet bow) and eat it(fast also) then why I would I not opt for the faster model. Let me ask you this. You have 2 identical Mathews Legacy bows in front of you and both are set up for your draw length same accessories on the string, arrow, etc. Everything is completely identical. However, one shoots 12 fps faster that the other (we don't know why, it just does) Are you saying that you are going to purposely pick the slower bow? If so please explain why.
