Somepeople dont like when the arrow passes all the way thru due to the fact that with the arrow still in when they run(if they do)the broadhead tears the lungs and heart apart but with all the new broadheads out today a pass thru is like hitting one with a bullet.....To me its a give and take.A well placed shot will kill ether witch way.........

Dont know if i can help too much, but sometimes non-passthrus can be good because as the deer runs the arrow and BH just flops around cutting everything up. as far as 51lbs and expandables... idk maybe like a light weight head. i would stick to a fixed blade and be confident

Its not the end of the world if you don't get a complete pass through. If you hit your spot with your arrow, you will be fine! As for the broadheads, I won't shoot expandables. I shoot cut on contact heads. Good luck bow hunting and enjoy!

I'll go against the grain here, and say that 51#'s IS enough for mechanicals, depending on which mechanical you use.
As far as the blood trail w/out a passthrough. It's a case scenario. I've seen passthrough's w/ no blood trail at all, and non passthrough's w/ bloodtrails a blind man could follow. There are just too many variables. You have better odds of a good trail w/ holes on both sides of the animal though.

I believe very strongly that a pass through should be every bowhunters #2 goal........right behind good shot placement. 2 holes bleeding will ALWAYS be easier to follow. The chances of 2 holes plugging up is slim and lots of stand shops are steep angles where the entry is often high on the back..........one hole high on the back doesn't leave sign for a long time.
There are so many fixed blade heads that there is no need to experiement with the mechanicals and hope they work.
I shoot Magnus and they are nearly flawless.
Steel Force
G5
Aftershock Maniacs
Slick Tricks
These are all great heads that I would try first with your setup.

When I first began bowhunting I shot expandables with my slower moving bow...I had a very difficult time achieving a complete pass through. Once I switched to a quality fixed blade broadhead with the same bow, I started to have complete pass throughs. I would listen to the guys above and use a good fixed blade head if you are shooting #51 draw weight. Best of luck.
