Hi everyone, just thought I would let you know what I got today. At 4:30am we pull up to the road we park alongside and see 3 big does looking at us in front of my truck not 15 yards away. At 6:23am my buddy Darrel has a doe right under his stand walking around and it's still to early to shoot, but him and I both can see her due to the Full Moon shining brightly. 6:35am, I hear and seea doe coming in from the otherside of the creek, then all hell breaks loose...A turkey spooked the doe and the doe spooked the turkey. 7:35am I see a doe on the ridge making her way to me...she comes down the hill...crosses the creek...(I'm standing at full draw waiting for her to take one more step, 7:41am now)...She steps...I bleat...She stops...I let her rip!!! She jumps straight up and runs away from me and over the ridge out of sight. What the heck was that??? Did I hit that limb projecting my arrow elsewhere. Never, as long as I have been Bow Hunting has a deer run more than 35 yards away before falling over dead. She just kept on running up one hill down the next etc...I wait 35 min, get down and see the arrow dripping with blood (SWEET, more freezer meat!). But wait...this story gets better. Darrel comes over and says "Shawn did you get her?" "Yeah I sure did!" Blood was everywhere. So we begin to track her...and track her...we end up in this neighborhood and cross over a street and into someones back yard. About 1 mile later, we find her here hunkered up alongside a tree and brush pile. As I'm telling Darrel about what happened and how I think I missed her originally, he stops and starts laughing. Looking over to the side of these peoples driveway there was a sign that stated "Backyard Wildlife Habitat"...He proceeds to laugh and says "Your deer died in the back yard of PETA's Vice Presidents house!" Holy crap! Well it turned out that nobody was home and/or they were sleeping and I got her out of the yard and into the truck to field dress her elsewhere as fast as possible!!!
