It wasn't my contest buck. My contest buck was a 7 pointer (my first buck). I took this one later in the year.

I took this buck on the next to last weekend of the season, last year, Burnie.....some 3 weeks into rifle season. I have 5 yahoos that don't know the meaning of "property lines"....hunting around me (had one of them come into my set, Thaksgiving Day, and take a DUMP 35 yds from my stand![:@]

Some would say my deer aren't pressured, though....so it don't count(I kid,....I kid!)

That just sucks. I can relate. My favorite spot to hunt is right next to the fence line between my land and one of my neighbors. One day I go out and find someone walking around on my property. When I confronted him,he told me he wascalling the cops and said I was trespassing. I pulled out the cell phone and said, "they have already been called." You should have seen the look on his face as he ran and jumped the fence. Little did he know, the GW was setting on the tail gate of his truck waiting for him. and yes, I did press charges. I get so sick of idiots like that, who screw up your hunting.

Besides, hunting pressured deer makes you a better hunter.

I thought it was different, I never remembered seeing that one. But my memory is not quite what it should be.

Yes being on Jeff's team now for two years now I have notice a pattern.

He shoots a little one, than a big one[8D]

Lots of people confusing "gun" with rifle I think. Pistols, muzzleloaders, shotguns of all kinds etc.

Like saying "bow" only means compounds........I bet the traditional guys would have something to say about that.
Not to confuse this thread more than it already is, but I agree with the statement above. I've touched on this more than once here. Seems likepeopleautomatically think 50 yard shot, broadside in an open fieldwith a modern slug gun or 300 Winchester Magsecurely nestled in a shooting rest, when they read or think about "gun hunting".

"I" would rather take a 30 yard shot with my compound bow than a 300 yard shot with a rifle....it's EASIER with the bow.

"I" would rather take a 40 yard shot with my compound bow than a 40 yard shot with my 4 5/8 in barrel open sighted pistol...it's EASIER with the bow.

I can say this because I have hunted withthose types of weapons at all different distances and I know just how hard it can be to get a good clean kill shot with those different weapons andvariables to deal with.

This is why I've always said there is a lot of elitist in the bow hunting community...They think "their way" of hunting is the toughest therefore by default they are the best hunters....not true.......not even close.

Carry on......

I was hoping no one would notice.....but you've patterned me pretty well.

No regrets on any deer I've ever taken, though. I hope to take a couple more out of the woods I hunt........although it's gun season. Lisa called me this morning and said it sounded like the gunfight at the OK Corrall behind the house, this morning. Just because I hunt private land.....that don't make it "private".

Never said you did....my post wasn't even in reply to any of your posts.

In fact, I see where your coming from. Most of the time the gun will be an easier kill, I was just waking some folks up about the misconceptions people have about "gun hunting".

But mostly I was just adding fuel to the fire.

You know....a man would be hard-pressed to fire off a 150yd shot in the woods I hunt. I'm no rifle hunter.....but doing that (If off-hand" is the term....I just learned what that meant, recently) would be a pretty neat feat, I suppose.

I have absolutely nothing against gun hunting....and I've said that MANY times. There "might" come a day when I take up a ML and hit the woods with it. Who knows. I have friends that invite me to their leases.....and I bowhunt, now (did, last year). I might try it with the ML OR rifle, one year. But, for now.....it holds no interest for me.

I like stirring it up with you guys. I respect your passion, though.
