I've had my mind changed here a bunch of times by people explaining something to me that was plausible. How fat are your arrows (you guys who say you can see them impact)? Are you shooting thin carbons?

RE: Do you all see your arrow hit and how??

I focus on the spot I want to hit. All I see is a hole open up on the deer. On a target if the arrow doesn't hit close to the spot were I'm aiming I will not know where the arrow hit. I do see the arrow coming in to view as it's going to hit the spot. Your eyes can only focus on one thing your pin are your target. One is going to be out of focus. Some focus on the pins and some the spot. Shoot the way that work best for you.

I am shooting FMJ(about as thin as they come) with a light colored wrap and 2 white blazers and one zebra black and white blazer.

So you said nothing to change the way I feel, Greg.

Duh...... Can anybody?;)
Exactly.

IKNOW ICAN SEE MY ARROWS HIT WHAT I AM AIMING AT. I shot my buck in very low light this year andI still said the shot looked a little back. It was by a couple of inches of where I really wanted it to hit.. But the real reason it looked that way is he wascoming down the hillangled to me more than I thought.
Had pretty much the identical situation this year.........and I shoot camo Blazers with a white cock vane......as soon as the arrow hit I KNEW it was a couple inches back of where I wanted to be. I can't imagine not being able to see my arrow hitting. When I found him it was exactly as I saw from my stand. NOT seeing where and how your arrow strikes is a BIG part of the puzzle I would not want to be without. JMO.

RE: Do you all see your arrow hit and how??

Hey guys I'm trying, here.....to find out if maybe I AM doing something wrong. I see just fine. I also use 6" reflective white wraps and I shoot 3 white blazers. Think about it......if your arrow's flying true.....wouldn't the only thing you see be the nock and "possibly" the fletchings spinning? The wrap wouldn't be seen if your arrow is flying true.

I have NO PROBLEMS knowing where my arrow impacts. I can always tell you where the arrow made impact....but I can't ever remember seeing my fletchings make contact with a deer's hide. Just never actually seen the fletching/fur impact contact.

I shoot 3D tournaments and I can see my arrow in flight on shots of over 25 yds......but to see the POI when it hits a 3D target????? No way. It just "appears" where my pin was....but I can't sit here and tell you that I saw it hit where it did.

I'm just being honest.

RE: Do you all see your arrow hit and how??

Jeff, I know you and I have discussed this before, but bears repeating. The arrow doesn't fly directly away from the shooter....It starts below the line of sight, travels above the line of sight, and then back below. IF the arrow were flying DIRECTLY away in the exact line of sight, you would be 100% correct...all you should be able to see at that point would be the nock. But it doesn't.

I would be that most likely the reason you don't see it impact a deer is because you're shooting at a deer. Emotions are jacked up....adrenaline is pumping, and I don't know about you, but when I'm drawing down on a live deer, it's almost like a dream. I mean that in the literal sense....It's like I'm asleep and dreaming it.....

That's about the coolest part of the hunt! I dig that slow motion stuff that goes through your mind. I bring that home and redream it for several nights in a row.... just for fun!:D
When I'm at home practicing, i try and make it as real as i can. Draw back very slow and consentrate like a mother, just as if i was shooting a real deer!

RE: Do you all see your arrow hit and how??

I used to ALWAYS see my arrow when I used aluminums. When I went with ACC's, there's something about them that disappears to me. Well that and I'm getting older...lol I can see my arrows when I shoot target. I don't always see them at close shots on game. I do however see the skin of the animal open up from the Snyper huge hole. I wonder how many people are saying they see the impact not the arrow because of this.

At longer yardages it's easier to see the whole arrow flight like mobow says, the arrow passes the line of sight in it's arc. At short distance, this is much more difficult for me. My skinny black ACC's are traveling at 305 fps, I rely only on my bright Blazers for visual. If I don't see them or impact I always grab my binos anyway.

Do I see my arrows in flight and impact everytime, Hell no. I'm sure concentrating on the hair I'm aiming at tho. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

Schulty, that's a great practice, and one that should be done. It is not, however, a real deer, no matter how hard you concentrate.

Rob, I agree that smaller shafts and faster bows make this more difficult, especially on close shots.
