ORIGINAL: jackflap

I haveused Muzzy 3 blades 125's for both deer and elk for the past 8 years. I heard how great the Rage broadheads were so I decided to try them. I have killed two deer with them, and didn't get a pass thru on either one. Blood trail was okay but certainly wasn't any better than my experience with Muzzys.
To each their own but not for me.
Good decision! Muzzy's won't fail you like them mechanicals can. To me these Mechanical heads are not bone crushers, it seems when they hit good bone they are done. I've talked to a few guys around my area who tried them as well and there expeirences were not very good when it came to them hitting bone, if they went in between the ribs they had pass throughs for the most part when they opened up.A few even told me when they had the deer quartering away at a sharp but shootable angle, the rages bouncedoff the ribs and in the dirt they went! To each there own I guess!

I prefer fixed broad heads, razor sharp.

I've killed 6 deer witht the rage this year. I also used 125gr. Muzzy 3-blade exclusively before I awitched to the Rage.

I killed 7 deer with the Muzzy and now 6 with the Rage. I don't know how much of a better "control" group you could come up with.....

I'll take the Rage EVERY SINGLE TIME. Period.

Never shot a deer with an expandable or a carbon arrow. I use big aluminum (2413) and 85 gr. Wasp SST Hammers (3 blade). The Wasp is very similar to the Muzzy. For me the jury is still out on the expandables.

I have had great luck with the muzzys also.I even used thunderhead 100's that a member on here (BigJ) gave me and had great sucess with them also. I hear way more good about the rage two blade than the bad even though i have not tried them, i will be trying them on turkeys come spring. Are you sure you are not hitting the off side shoulder and getting some bounce back?? just askin!!

Me either Greg! It just wouldn't look right on my bow shooting them mechanical things! I shoot a 22/16aluminum arrow with a 3 blade also (125 grain snuffer). Wasp has been making BH's for years, there avery good head!

I started using Muzzy's 5 years ago when I was having trouble getting pass through shots with my old Bear bow...it was a slow bow. The first buck I shot with my Muzzy 100 grain 3 blade was a complete pass through and a great blood trail. Since then I have used nothing else. This year I used the 3 blade MX-4 and had complete pass throughs on all the deer I shot...they were even more accurate than the MX-3...I will not switch, Muzzy's have been good to me from the start.

Glad to hear someone else on these forums use Wasp broadheads. I use to shoot 100 gr. hammer SST's but have recently switched to the boss bullets. I love them. Wasp makes one hell of a good broadhead. They definitely don't get the credit they deserve. Probably because they don't spend the money on all the advertisments like the other brands. I will take my wasps any day over a mechanical.
