RE: Why Do People Lie?
My ex'es stabbed me in the back too, HARD. I actually blame them for my divorce, I think they talked her into it giving me a BS story the whole time.
I had a similar thing as you happen to me with my gun hunting spot. There were three of us (all named Paul) hunting a friends land, the guy that owned it and the other two of us. We built three identical blinds one winter that were really nice. 300 bucks a piece just in materials. I was a bit hesitant being I didn't have a lot of money. They said it would be an investment and would pay off years down the road and they would last a long time since we built them so well. And I was welcome to hunt as long as I wanted. I would be happy I spent the money in 10 or 15 years. Well skip ahead two years and the guys wife doesn't want us hunting there anymore, our buddy talks her into letting us hunting one week out of the two. The next year he is getting a divorce and his wife doesn't even live there anymore. Three days into the first week of season he tells us we can't hunt there anymore. He said he had to drop his liability insurance and he was afraid something would happen if one of us got hurt. We assured him neither one of us would sue him and we would sign a statement or waver to that effect. We even offered to pay his insurance for him if he was that worried about. My buddy even offered to pay him to hunt there if it was a money thing. He told us no, he made up his mind and didn't want us hunting there anymore. It was like a kick in the teeth, very sudden and it hurt. It was a nice place to hunt, but the part I miss more is meeting up at the end of the day or during lunch sometimes and just shooting the crap about what we saw or didn't see. We all got a long really well and the other two of us were really shocked when he told us that. I hope things work out for you. If this is the worst thing that happens to you in your divorce consider yourself lucky. Mine ruined me both mentally and financially Good luck, Paul |
RE: Why Do People Lie?
Its hard to know what might have been said between your ex and her daddy. if you are really good friends with her dad then talk to him and tell him youd like to continue the relationship you had with him, even tho you arent with his daughter.
but you gotta understand that he probably doesnt want his daughter getten pissy with him because hes hanging out with you...so thats probably why your not going on the hunt... family does come first...i know i put my immediate family way before mygood friends, thats the way it is...but i have a couple friends that i consider family...and i treat them as such...but if i had too i would put blood first.... but i also think that ifi had a hunting relationship witha inlaw...im not gonna stop hunting with them because of a break up....hunting buddies are hunting buddies and thats the way it is with me anyway... |

RE: Why Do People Lie?
Bottom line, divorces are ugly. I got along really well with my first father-in-law too. But soon after the split, he called me up and chewed on me pretty good about a bunch of stuff my ex told him about me, none of which was true. One thing that stuck with me was how upset he got with me for not paying the house note and how he had to give my ex money to pay the bills. The problem with that was I had been making payments the whole time, so why did she want that much money? He didn't believe me, so I faxed him the cancelled checks from my statement. I also found out my ex had taken out several credit cards in my name and maxed them out without making any payments. When the old guy found out I as telling the truth, he got even angrier with me than before. Figure that out. Come to think of it, he may have just been upset that his daughter got arrested for forgery, theft, threats, damage to property, unauthorized use of a moveable, and false personation of an officer.:D Nah, that couldn't be it.

RE: Why Do People Lie?
Thanks everyone, Yeah I understand the part about blood being thicker than water part. And I was concerned about the whole camp thing from the beginning of our seperation and the divorce. So thats why I went to the owners of the camp and asked them If I was still welcome and I even asked my ex-father-in-law and it was fine all summer long, But now its not. And the BS reason I was told is a joke. Oh well if they want to be like that then let them. Karma is a bitch. They will not get a friendly hello from me next time I see them. And the worst part is I will miss sitting down with my ex-father-in-law and having a beer and just shooting the bull about everything because I think his a my friendship is officially over.

RE: Why Do People Lie?
I have been there man, but so far I am still welcome to hunt the family land. I have had run ins with some of the guys that hunt up there but luckily the ex father in law sticks up for me. I try to help the family out with wood cutting and other little things.
