Believe it or not....people do that. About 15yrs ago on our farm in WV...some guys got busted by the warden for doing exactly that.

I thought it was only a WV thing... LOL ;)

Technically then it wouldn't be bow hunting, but cross bow hunting without strings lol I would say he is yanking your chain. I cant believe anyone would even try that. Stupid people shouldn't be allowed to breed

That would be a good one. Why would you do this, just use a slug.

it would work... for fun while in the military we'd pull the blank adapters off our guns and shove the cleaning rod in there and fire it, it would drive those little rods 4-5" into a tree... the m16 blanks were awfully quiet too, very little powder in them... the m60 blanks however would drive those rod into the trees and you couldn't see but about an inch sticking out..

We have done it, but you have to use the big wooden shafts. Take the fletching off, boy do those wood arrows penatrate into a old wood shed!

I have heard this a popular hillbilly method down in West Virginia.

It has been brought up here in MN, but i didn't think there would ever be anyone crazy enough to try it.

it does work i have done it with carbon arrows in a single shot 410 we had to shave the fletchings all the way off and it becomes acurate to about 15 feet if you use the right shells it will a ctually penatrate a truck door with field tips we then tried it wit a broadhead and it bounced back so fast i was nearly cought on the business end of an arrow and this is not something i am recommending for any one especially any younguns on here

I believe the phrase you seek is

"hey Angus hold my beer an watch this"

plus in hunters safety they said you become better looking and more popular if you shove things down the barrel of a loaded gun
