RE: How do you guys aim??
I try to point my bow right where I think it needs to be with both eyes open

RE: How do you guys aim??
I raise the bow first and "aim" and then draw straight back, as little movement as possible. I also shoot with both eyes open. When I switched to that, my groups got way better. You kind of have to train your brain at first. But, I can see both the pin and the target, one with each eye. If that makes sense

RE: How do you guys aim??
Aim with both eyes open. Better range estimation that way and better view of the animal. As for drawing? I raise the bow and draw level just like on the ground and/or practice range. Then bend at the waist. So the bow is always coming down from the top. It's always harder to raise something up than it is to lower it. Less musclework involved. If I have to turn with a moving animal I pivot from the knees.

RE: How do you guys aim??
Good advice guys, I think I will try the both eyes open thing next time I shoot at the target.

RE: How do you guys aim??
Less retinal strain with both eyes open as well. If you wear contacts, and don't blink often while focusing..your contacts will become dry on the outside.

RE: How do you guys aim??
I simply draw and put the pin where it needs to be.

ORIGINAL: YooperMike I raise the bow first and "aim" and then draw straight back, as little movement as possible. I also shoot with both eyes open. When I switched to that, my groups got way better. You kind of have to train your brain at first. But, I can see both the pin and the target, one with each eye. If that makes sense Caution on trying both eyes open...when you first do it, you may get double vision or the wrong eye may try to take over. Make sure you have a good target backstop...you could send one 3ft off... LOL, been there done that. I switched about 10yrs ago, 1 million times better. A good way to know if you are "on target" when learning and training yourself, is to close your opposite eye occasionally to make sure your pin is on the target. Good luck, by next season you will be doing it I am sure. Don't switch now...but you can start getting used to it. |
