I believe its just natures way of sorting out the deer populations. I know here in southern Indiana we had quite a few fall victims to blue tongue but I have still seen more deer in my last 4 outings then I saw all of last year.
I agree on natures way!

A guy I used to work with just killed to 160" plus buck 8 minutes apart. He is hunting near Mt. Carmel, IL somewhere.

I have had the same experience. i hunt in washington county and I'm not seeing any deer at all. it's horrible. i have a friend that hunts about 1200 acres in marion co and up to last week had only seen two deer. this guy hunts about 3-4 days a week.I've talked to alot of guys that are saying the same thing, no deer.
IT'S GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE THE END OF THE YEAR HARVEST REPORT. i bet we won't be seeing any records getting broken this year. think about it, these deer are already dead, less deer in the woods to hunt means less sightings, less harvest.
i thinks it's bad that this late gun season for does is giong to happen. I don't think i'd kill a doe if i got one in range (I've only seen about 3).
this EHD was supposed to effect the bucks the worst during there velvet shed, due to the exposed blood (it's caused by gnats).
i haven't even seen any chasing through the fields...what rut?
