Ok, now for the full story. I had been hunting in Jersey Co., IL all week. Seen a ton of deer but the only ones coming in range were little ones. Except for a big 150 class 10 point that came on the wrong side of my tree Thursday, too many branches in the way.

Yesterday I was hunting over a ditch the deer use as a travel corridor in the woods. I gotin that standabout 11:00, and the first deer I saw was a doe and young one at 4:15. They fed on acorns till about 5:00 on the other side of the ditch, then fed out of sight to my right. It is getting pretty dark in the woods by now(the trees just will not shed their leaves) so I start to get things ready to climb down. I hear something walking to my left and look across the ditch. I see a huge body with enough antlers to know he is a shooter coming my way. I start looking for a spot to stop him for the shot, he is angling toward me. I draw my bow and maa softly. He stops and starts looking around.I search for my pins in my peep. The 20 yard shot looks good so I touch off the release. This all happened so fast I could'nt tell where the shot really hit. and it is geting dark fast. The buck runs 50 yards and stops and looks back. I scramble for another arrow and he blows and bounds out of sight. I listen for a couple of minutes and hear a crash, but no thrashing. I don't know if he fell or just ran into something trying to escape. Then a deer starts to blow up on the hilside where he ran. So I got down and found my arrow. It is covered with blood, but has a strong smell to it. I decided to back out and come back in the morning. We found him right away 75 yards away. He was dead before I climbed down last night. The shot was right behind his shoulder, but he was quartering to me and the shot exited thru his guts. Here are some more pics.

The entrance hole.

These are for the wkp guys.

My buddy Bob took some good pics. This is where he fell.

And by the lake.HNI plug.

A few more.

Nice job on the buck...and great pictures too! Just curious as to what type of broadheads you use. It appears that you had quite an opening where the arrow entered. Congrats again.
