What a difference a week makes...

Just some random musings rolling through my head now that the PA season is closed.
Greene County PA. For those not familiar, it is in the southwest corner of the state.
Last weekend it seemed like there was a buck behind every tree. Fast forward to this past Friday and Saturday...nada. My buddy hunted all day Friday. Didn't see a deer. I played cameraman yesterday. Conditions were perfect. Hunted sun up to sun down and once agan we didn't see a deer. Neither did my duddy's dad who is hunting a classic funnel situation elsewhere on the property.
This really doesn't surprise me, although it is interesting, not seeing a single animal in what amounts to about 33 man hours in the stand between my buddy and his dad. We've been hunting this property for many years and generally speaking, by the second weekend in November, things have really slowed down there. We've always had better luck the last week of October and on into the first week of November in this area.
Hope the big ten point and8 point make it through gun season now. They should be whoppers next year...
I've still got this hunting Jones pretty bad this year. I always tell myself this is the year I'm buying an Ohio tag, but I never do. Jeez...I've even run some scouting missions to Ohio in years past, but I still don't buy that tag. Something wrong with me....

Mine are rather the opposite. I always have action and good luck late october thru a few days into november. This year that time period was dead and the deerwere only moving at 1st & last light. I had very limited action until the last day. 8 different bucks & a shooter locked down with a hot doe.

My findings were exactly the opposite... The past 2 weeks I have seen nothing, and I mean nothing. Starting Thursday, I have seen an amazing number of bucks, shooters and not, and does. Awesome time of the year for me!!

I've hunted almost every day for the last two weeks. When I hunted the big woods I saw verylittle in the way of shooter bucks save one monster on Halloweenand talking to others hunting the same area they said the same thing. This past week I switched to hay fields with multiple hedgerows. I saw shooters every day, usually in the morning as they took their time heading back to cover for the day. They did not show again until dark. It was an exciting yet frustrating week. An eight point at sixty yards, a big eight or ten thatblew by me at thirty yards doing a hundred miles an hour, the twelve point 140"? at twelve steps staring at me through the bushes, the eight point that I blundered into while still hunting the hedge rows and many others. I knewit was going to benext to impossible to get a shot while on the groundbut since there was nothing happing in the woods in any of the placesI'd hunted I figured my best chance was going to be where at leastI'm seeing the big boys. Hopefully it will be a different story in a few weeks with an inline or shotgun in my hands.

I have to echo the others. My results and sightings were opposite of yours Jimimac.
Deer were everywhere this past week. Moving well , even in the wind. I counted 54 deer from 2 different stands.

Interesting observations from you guys and thanks for responding... That's why I posted it up.
Ain't it funny how the deer can be doing one thing over here and 75 miles away it's exactly the opposite at any given time.
We've seldom done well in that Greene County spot on the last weekend...
