Default My monster was poached

My father found one of our bucks about 400 yards away from our farm yard. Looks like he was gut shot sometime over the weekend when no one was home. Mother was out of town at a wedding and my father, brother, and I were hunting in the Black Hills afew milesfrom Deadwood. I guess we need to make sure someone is home from now on. This guy was a bruiser.

Does anyone within a mile or 2 have permission to hunt deer or are there any deer hunters that close. You said it was gut shot so someone may have shot it and lost the trail. A gut shot deer can go forever before it expires, especially if it gets chased or bumped a lot.Just a thought though.... That is a very nice deer.

Rifle season doesn't start until this coming saturday and the entry hole was made by a bullet. Only sixty some deer were killed will a bow last year in my county. Archery is not at all popular around here. Most people hunt from their pickup.

That didn't take long for someone to question me.

I don't know who would have shot it.Our nearest neighbor that hunts lives a little over 4 miles away and that is just with a rifle. I don't anyone that hunts with a bow anywhere close. Very few trees around here, so archery hunting is pretty hard.
