Default Would you??

A Pal-O-Mine has an Xmass tree farm and says the bucks are rubbing and ruining far to many trees. He says I can hunt the spot IF I promise to shoot the first buck I see. I told him it would be better to take out some does but heinsists I shoot a buck.

I know there are some good bucks there but he says the first one I see or no deal. Would you agree to the conditions? Pass a small one, or just forget about it.

If he was truly a pal I really don't think there would be the "first buck you see clause" in his offer. If the bucks are rubbing too many of his profits, you'd think ANY buck you took out would make him happy (until he saw one buck doesn't make a difference).

If you're looking for a spot and can help a buddy out then I see no problem. Will he be with you while hunting? How will he know if you pass on one or not? How many tags do you have? Can you lose one on a spike to keep your end of the deal and still have one for a big guy? I would never pass up the opportunity to pick up a new spot, you never know whats in there.

He would not know if I passed on a little buck but I would. It's a great spot but I would use up my last buck tag so I have to think long and hard before I agree.
On the plus side it's alot of acres and I would be in for next year with no conditions. Only 20 miles from Boston so places are tough to find.. ARG

Take it, this day and age it is crazy to turn down a free hunting area.

Me too. There is potential here if you do as he wishes this year to get you a prime spot where you can later on choose which buck to shoot. I still would talk to him and see if you could pass on a spike or cowhorn, if not I'd bust the first buck I saw and them offer to share the meat with him.
