I hear ya my 2 oldest daughters have been shootinga bow since 2 years ago and are pretty good. They both have been shooting a 22 for 2 years know also. They are 7 and 5 and my 5 year old will get to go hunting to kill next year as she is still a little to small to handle the .243. I do not let them shoot the deer rifle until they have it on a deer as I am afraid the recoil will make them gun shy. The one that killed the deer as killed 2 deer with the rifle and has never felt the recoil because of the adrenaline. She didn't even take the time to put on her earmuffs this last time and usually that is the first thing she goes for. I should have been paying mor attention and made her put them on as we where in a enclosed box stand. It is the only way to hunt with kids. I will take the 5 yr old with me this year put she will not get to shoot just learn the ropes of hunting. It is the greatest feeling in the world to see a kid harvest a deer. A kid in the woods is a kid out of trouble in the future IMO.
