RE: Having trouble finding deer in peep

I quit using sights altogether on my huntin' bows. I have to practice a lot more to keep sharp, both on the target range and out in the woods, but that's no biggie since I like shooting and wandering in the woods anyway.:)

RE: Having trouble finding deer in peep

i think alot of it has to do with the woods being darker than your used to. i know when i draw back in the woods it looks WAY different than in my open back yard.

i learned to shoot both eyes open and started going to local 3D shoots that are in the woods.

i learned that if my anchors are the same, and i can see my pins, i MUST be looking through the peep, even though it dont look "right" to me...

practice shooting in the woods under hunting conditions if you havent...it should help. yes, i pack my stand and target into the woods to practice..

You are so intent on the deer that you can't seem to get the bow in front of you correctly. It's like you can't let the bow get in the way of your view.
Does that sound familiar at all? It's just nervous anxiety when you are drawing on that deer then. If this is what's happening then you just need to close your eyes for a second and draw with good form. If you do it the same as in practice, that peep will line up for you. Summing it up, your drawing differently when your target is a deer.
I had the mase vision problem and noticed that this was my problem. THe first deer i shot at with a bow i specificaly remeber sot even looking throught the peep when i relesaed. After i shot i was like... hey why didn't you aim dummby?

I use both eyes at first, then close one for the shot. Find the foreleg first and then follow it up to the sweet spot.

RE: Having trouble finding deer in peep

I do shoot with one eye. I have contemplated going to two open but it seems pretty challenging from what little bit I've tried it. I have never thought about my mouth being open but that could be it. I also have trouble concentrating because of adrenaline I know. Does anybody use kisser buttons anymore? is this a viable alternative to a peep site?
