RE: Treestand aiming question for the experienced hunters...

I have seen deer duck, but I think we also use that as an excuse...My bow is 15 years old or so, I shoot aluminum arrows, they don't duck unless they are on alert...I bet my bow is slower than 80% of the guys on here...I have killed 3 with this setup this year....

I bet it's your form, no, you don't have to bend at the waist, but you have to have a good rear anchor...Get your nose on the string, use a peep...Only shoot at relaxed deer...Sometimes a head net can change that rear anchor...You really need to get up in the tree with your hunting clothes on and shoot from a stand...I have tried it from my house and it's just not the same...

btw...I'm not going to tell you how I know this is true........:D
Been there......;)

LOL Thanks NC...you would be correct on the headnet. I have never thought to practice with it on. Thanks for the advice!

20yds, I am dead on with the 20yd pin, make sure to bend at the waist though. Inside 20yds I will drop the pin a bit lower. Inside 10yds, you should be using your 30 or 40 yard pin, because at that short of a distance, the arrow is still on the rise, so with the 20yd pin, you will hit about 3"-4" too high. Try it in the yard if you don't believe me!;)

If I used my 30/40 pin on something less than 10 yards, I'd be several inches high..unless I aimed those pins in the ground.
