Greg, There's no doubt in my mind that you've got a dead deer. I trust your skillsenough to know you'll find him. Amazing what you can learn of people by reading posts, but we know your a seasoned veteran

I agree with Rob on 8 hours, that's usually as long asI wait!!

You have experience on your side.

Good Luck

Guys, thanks for all the input and confidence. Even in a situation such as this, I remain optimistic and confident that I will find and recover this deer.

I decided to wait until morning to search. It is killing me to do so, but I think it's the right thing to do. As most of you know, the biggest mistake one can make in tracking a marginally hit deer, is to push too soon. I know, I've done it. As most of you also know, if you do push too soon, the deer is usually not recovered. This deer is dangerously close to the property line and a large cornfield. I thought it'd be best to let him bed near the creek and hopefully find him there in the morning and not have to search a huge cornfield.

BTW, big Duane's comment didn't bother me as I thought it was humerous. He probably didn't know any better.

Thanks for all the support!

When I find it, I'll report back.

I'd get a lanternand a buddy (to help with the drag)and get after him now, 12 hours is enough and you might save it from the coyotes.
