I'm going to accurately score the deer in a little bit as I have the antlers in hand.
The deer weighed 218 even with what the coyotes took for themselves.[:@]
I imagine he was close to if not about 225 dressed.
I also know that the old 11 pointer I've been seeing is much bigger (15-20 lbs).
As you know, deer are like people, some are big and some are small. Small deer can have big antlers and big deer can have small antlers. It's great when big deer have big antlers!
So far I've passed on 2 big, big deer because the antlers weren't what I was looking for. I'm thinking that one of these years I'm going to try for the biggest bodied buck I can find reguardless of antler size. That's a trophy in it's own right.
