My brother had an 8 and a 10 within ten feet of his back room window a few days ago. He was...yes...sitting on the couch, watching them.
Photography might be one thing, but I wouldn't get any satisfaction out of killing a deer out of a house window.
I knew a guy though, he's dead now, that shot a big buck every year from his upstairs window. His house was well over the safety zone limit to any other houses, and of course he had permission. He owned the house!
Still not sportsmanlike to me. It's probably is legal...the law reads "occupied structure". in PA. Don't know what NJ law is. If the house is abandoned, and you have permission to hunt the property, I think you're legal. Do what you will.

dude, i would have no reservations hunting out of an old house.
i've hunted out of old trucks broken down and left in the woods, and once out of an old landscaping trailer that someone left in the woods. keeps the rain off of you and are as much a part of the habitat as trees and rocks.
