My favorite broadheads are G5 Montecs and Hellrazors both of those fly extremely well I've only had passthru's with both and both buried themselves in the ground a good 4 inches at 30 yards, mechanicals scare me since not all shots can be perfect broadside shots, plus I like haveing guaranteed large entry and exit wounds

go with the slick tricks or muzzy..and yes a bad shot is going to be a bad shot..but with a muzzy"type" head
u are going to pass through most of time and that deer will be deaddddd.

ok i went out this evening to find my deer when i got off work, well after some searching i found him bedded down in some thick stuff, he again jumped up and ran to the river bottoms, im furious but i know where he went and sunday im going to finish him off for good....by the way thanks for the advice and for the smartass comments left by some people yall need some attitude readjustments...no one here is perfect at bowhunting soo think twice about what you say to people, its just bs that you can make fun of someone who you dont know...i hope yalls hunting seasons are just as bad as mine has gone so far!!!!!!!!

I also quit using mechanicals, after 5 years of using them I come to the conclusion they are not 100% capable of doing their job. Lat year using mech, I had 2 complete pass throughs and recovered, I also had 2 that failed to work, one hit the shoulder and had maybe 2" of penetration, lost that one, next one hit right behind the shoulder and had maybe 6" penetration, lost that one. It is the broadhead, it seems sometimes they crumple like the front end of a car during a collision and absorb all the KE and fail to get penetration. My bow is shooting 280 fps and that should never happen.
I challenge anyone to shoot a target with mech vs fixed and tell me which one gets more penetration. My Muzzy's sometimes blow through my target, my field points and mech will never do that.
I am using Muzzy 4 blade because they seem to fly better than the 3. My friend has been using them for years and seen some wild and poor shots he's made using them, but he always recovered.

I find it funny how so many people always blame equipment (Bh's etc.) when the problem lies in shot placement and/or their own mistakes. Crap happens even to the best bow hunter. I have not been bow hunting that long. The first thing I learned from my mentor was shot placement. "Take away their ability to breathe and you win every time""Wait for the right time and angle" "Aim for the exit hole" With this advice I have stood next to every animal I have ever shot at. Will I ever lose an animal? Probably one day I will. Know your limitations, that bow is not an 30.06. Why would you even try to take a shot like that? Especially on the biggest buck you have ever seen or a doe for that matter? I have read every excuse in the world on here and other places. My mech. broadhead didn't open or it opened up in flight. Or muzzys suck, no blood trail with a stinger etc. Most of them will work perfectly if the shot placement is correct. No the bloodtrail might not be that good or it might be great with almost any head. I am by no means an expert, never have I claimed to be.
