Saving deer blood

For those thinking about training a deer recovery dog, you should be saving your deer blood if you didn't save enough from when you gutted your deer this past season. After thawing your steaks, burger, & roasts pour the blood in a plastic container and store in the freezer. Some like to keep a couple of lower legs or a green hide in the freezer also to be used later when laying the training trails. If you're interested in more info about tracking dogs and their training, visit www.deersearch.org This site is dedicated to recovering deer with dogs.

I'll also mention that feeding your recovery dog raw or cooked pieces of ribs is a good way to reward your dog. Just ask your processor to cut your ribcage into small pieces and freeze.
