Do any of you use only 1 pin?
 

Do any of you use only 1 pin on your sight. If you do, then do you have to aim high or low depending on the yardage or do you just aim dead on?

I shoot a Keller pendulum, Mathews outback at 250 fps. I can use my sight from 0-40 yards aiming dead on, but in low light conditions, its real hard to see my pin with no fiber optics or light.

For the longest time I used a pendulum. Then I went over to fixed pins, and have 4 of them on my sight, but have only ever used my top pin to shoot at a deer. I just don’t shoot very far.

I was shooting a FoxFire one pin sight but it cost me a shot at a big 8 earlier this year so I took GR8's advice and got an HHA. I got the Optimizer 5500 with the rheostat. WOW what a great sight. 5 feet of fiber optic wrapped around the sight. It's unbelievable the amount of light that thing pulls in. It's adjustable but I keep it set at one spot. I practiced enought to know where to aim at certain ranges from a stand from 10-35 yards...one pin! No guessing!

I shoot one pin, but mine is also adjustable.

However, if I were to shoot a single, fixed pin, I would sight it in for 25 yards. That's where I keep my slider for hunting. I'm 1 inch high at 20 yards, and 1 inch low at 30 yards. Any farther than 30 and I would have to adjust my aiming point.

I use no pins on my trad bows. :D I shot them instinctive. My compound has5 pins, 20 yard through 60 yards. And I use them all. Where I hunt is a lot of open country. Most of my shots are 35 yards in, but every now and then I have to use the others. My furthest deer kill has been between 45 yards to 50 yards, but ive taken hogs out to 60 yards a couple of times.

I shoot one pin. I have an Impact Cosmic which is also adjustable but I don't adjust it. I'm able to shoot out to 40 yds sighted in at about 25 yds.

Ihold low body at 20 or less, mid bodyat 30, and top of body at 40 yards and still hit at all ranges sucessfully. I do use a rangefinder to insure I know my distances in hunting situations too.

Remember I shoot a pendulum! Why would i have any reason to lie anyway?????????

250 fps....I know that is not that fast, but it gets hard to pull back in January with a lot of clothes on. The last thing i want is for a big buck to walk by and not be able to pull my bow back.

i use one pin set at 25 yrds and i hold 2" low at 15 to 25 and hold 2" 25 to 35 yrds i dont shoot past 35yrds and i likemy shots under 30yrds

I shot a pendulum at 370 fps this summer, experimenting with every conceivable variable, and it STILL wasn'tcompensating enough to shoot from zero-40.

I just scrapped the pendulum and went to a straight pin sight. I have one pin to 45 yards, but Istill have to play a fudge-factor game with it. That pin is zero'ed at 25 yards. At 35, I'm holding my first pin5" hot. At 40, I'm holding the 45 yard pin just a few inches low.

I know, a lot of you guys will call B.S. on the 370 number, so here's the proof.

One pin and I am good out to about 25 yards. you have to practice with your sight in all kinds of conditions to know how you are going to shoot

I just started shooting 1 pin this season. I used to use 3 but I just got a pretty flat shooting Bear Element bow and now 1 pin gets me out 25 yards which is my max for the most part. I'm dead on at 20yds, about 1/2" high at 10yds and about 1/2" low at 25yds. Pretty much if they're within 25yds of me and the pin is held at the center of the chest, it should be meat in the freezer......"should" being the key word :)

my bow uses the same pin fro 10-20 yards but after that it is seprate

I have a Red Dot Scope so it's one pin. I would recommend one pin because you can adjust with your aim with your eyes faster then your fingers. If I went back to fixed pin it would be one pin.

I shoot 1 pin that is adjustable but I never move it. I'm good out to 25 yards.

I only used one pin until this year. Now I've set up two pins, but I only anticipate using one. If you are shooting carbon arrows at a decent speed you are usually good out to 30 - 40 yards. For me that's farther than I'll probably shoot anyway.

I use one pin set at 30 yards.I have done this for many years.I am comfortable with knowing where to hold at different distances.I like my sight picture to be open and uncluttered>
