Hog or Elk hunting?

Well, I have the opportunity to go hog hunting in the end of November. My girlfriends great ungle is a guide down in Texas, and I can go and hunt down there for free. Now it is going to cost some money obviously to get down there, for food, etc. On the other hand, I have been saving money tohopefully goon an elk hunt inColorad next year. Now I wanted some other peoples opinions on what I should do. Should I use to money that I have been saving for an elk hunt to go hog hunting, or should I pass that up and just keep saving for the elk hunt?

There's no way I'd sacrifice a chance to go elk hunting just to shoot a hog.

But if you can find a way to do both, go for it! But elk huntingwould be the priority in my opinion. Not even close. To me, elk hunting is a dream once in a lifetime experience. Hog hunting seems like something to pass the time between deer seasons. That's just me.

Be prepared to buy an out of state licens. Hogs are a varment, but you have to have a licens to hunt them in Texas. $300.00 for a general non-residence. Or that is what it was a few years back. Not sure if there is some special license for varments. There use to be a special non-residence license for $125.00. Not sure what the special licens is. You will also have to get an archery tag if you are bow hunting.

I live in the middle of hog country, so Id take a Elk hunt over a hog hunt any day. I can hunt hogs everyday of the year, so Im kinda bias. I still have never Elk hunted.

Yeah, I really would like to do both. With buying a house and everything, I am thinking that I am going to have to choose on or the other. That is unless I get another big raise this year!!:D

I've done a lot of elk hunting and no hog hunting.. I'll take elk hunting anyday over any other kind of hunting. Your odds of killing a hog are probably a lot better than an elk, but the chance to get into the mountains and bugle them in is something you can't pass up.

I didan out of state Montana do-it-yourself bow elk hunt this year.. we did not get any elk between the four of us but got into some fantastic bugling action with a high 300's class bull and some satellites.. and we all got mule deer as our consolation prize.:D
