I live in elk country and we have no hogs. I'm kinda on the fence on this one - I have killed 34 elk, but never a hog. I might go for the hog - at least once. Particularly if you could shoot multiple hogs.

I would pick elk over hogs anyday.

Hogs are plentiful where I live, have hunted them several times. It's fun, but nothing likea trip I took to hunt elk/mule deer in Colorado. Not even close.

I would definitely have to say go elk hunting. As other have said, elk hunting is a dream that I would love to do one day since they aren't too many down here in Texas:). As burniegoeasy stated, there are all kinds of hogs down here in Texas and there are several on two of the pieces of property that are in my family. I just shot a hog about three weeks ago with my bow and it doesn't even come close to what I would imagine an elk would feel like. If you can swing both, then do it, but I would choose the elk over the hogs if you could only do one...

I have killed a bunch of hogs and while it is fun and exciting I can't imagine it could compare to an elk hunt. I know that hogs don't come close to deer hunting for me so I'd imagine its the same for elk.

I've killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 hogs and I'd trade all 40 of those for one elk hunt. I killed an elk a few months ago, and I'm immediately addicted. If you hunt public land, it's relatively inexpensive to do a DIY elk hunt. The meat from an elk is WAAAAAAAAY better than a hog as well. No comparison.... Wapiti!

34 elk is quite an achievement even livingin elk country! I've killed 3 in about 16 years of hunting them and more deer than I careto count in 30 years of hunting them (I used to live in the midwest). You guys in Coloradohave more elk than any other state, talk about unfair advantage[8D]

Ya know where it might be fun to hunt hogs would be in Hawaii.. they've got thousands of them and they are pretty much considered a pest over there.. I always thought it would be fun to load a bloody hog up in a rental car and take it back to the hotel!:D

Man....Go Elk Hunting. Like some people mentioned, your odds will be lower, but just the experience and the view of the mountains and aspen trees will be worth it. I Elkhunted 2 times in North Central New Mexico and it was AWESOME!!!!! Seen about 20 Elk, missed one at 50 yards (thought it was 40) and had a big black bear walk within 30 yards of my ground blind. You can buy bacon and ham at the market...GO ELK HUNTING!!!

I havent done either but if hes related to your girlfriend, unless you plan on breaking up, go on the elk hunt. That hog hunt will always be there, save the money and take him up on his offer at another time...
