82 degrees, 25-30 MPH wind, Buck down!!! (Updated with pics)

Guys shot a nice buck this evening. Getting things squared away. Pics and story to come. I'm guessing 130-135.

Just dropped him off at the butcher. Man conditions were terrible. Came a hair from not even going out. Got in the stand about 4:30 and didn't see anything but a basket rack 8 and a few does until right before dark. I was actually disgusted with the wind and had had enough. About 5 minutes before last shooting light, I decided I was ready to go to the house. I had just pulled my bow rope up and was getting ready to lower my bow when for some reason I looked behind me and seen two deer walking my way. I thought both were doe. As they approached I could tell that the lead deer was a decent buck. However, it wasn't light enough to tell exactly what he had. I could see decent G2's and decided if a shot presented I was going to take it. He jumped the fence behind me and came out from underneath me and gave me a 17 yard, slightly quartering away shot. I drew, stopped him, and tripped the release. He mule kicked and ran about 100 yards across the cut bean field and I watched him collapse. Perfect shot. At this point I still didn't know exactly what I was gonna walk up on. All I knew was he was a decent buck with pretty nice G2's. It's amazing how it always seems to come together when the conditions are at their worst. I'm elated. I was hoping to down a little larger of a buck this year but I still have one buck tag left. The absence of a G3 on his right side really hurts his score. However, he does have alot of character with a split brow, split G2 and a small split on his right main beam. Irough scored him at 128 7/8. I will double check my math before I enter him in the contest. I'm tired and worn out. I will post him on the scorecard thread tomorrow. Here are some pics.

Great looking IL buck you got there GH, CONGRATS!! Nice mass, and good character.

I was in my stand way at the bottom of a hollow last night trying to get out of the wind. It still caught the top of my tree now and then and gave me a ride. There were times when I was glad there wasn't a deer around and I had to try and hold steady.

Awesome buck Chris. You're like money in the bank bro. I knew you'd be checking in a big boy sometime within the next week - given the action you'd been having. Big congrats buddy - I know you put the time in.

1-for-1 with the new bow.

You've been all over 'em since the season started - it was just a matter of time. I raise my glass. Cheers.

LOL!!!

Thanks, guys for the compliments. duc, it's hard to keep those eyes open for the flash when you have been out there in total darkness for very long. Man, that flash was bright. LOL!!:D I noticed that as soon as I looked at the pictures. I think they are closed in every pic we took.

Great buck....had the same thing happen last night. Had one come in at 30yds as I was fixing to get down but it was too dark to attempt a shot.....I couldn't even tell if it was a buck or doe.

Congrats on the buck, he's a beauty. Another good example that you can get bucks when it's "too hot." Way to stick with it.

I have seen the trail cam pics of some of those WV bucks your chasin back home. You know there are some nice ones in there. Get out there and smoke one.
