How far are you driving, roundtrip, when you bowhunt?
I'm driving about 57 miles roundtrip everytime I want to bowhunt. To me this seems like a lot, but that's where my land is. So unless I want to buy a license and hunt the National Forest, this is what I gotta do[:'(]. Just curious to see what all of you are going through, in terms of mileage, driving time and cost. I figure that everytime I go hunting it's costing me just under $8 in gas. It takes me about 35 minutes one way also.

All depends. I own land 50 miles from me in Texas, and land 13 hours from me in Louisiana. Needless to say, i have not hunted my land in Louisianna in over 20 years. I also have a lease about 90 miles away, and a stretch of land that buddies have at 45 miles and 120 miles away.

RE: How far are you driving, roundtrip, when you bowhunt?
My weekends consist of driving 225 miles to camp in PA on Friday night, hunting all day Saturday and then hopping back in the car to drive to my buddies camp in NY which is roughly 125 miles drive. Then when I'm done at his place on Sunday I drive roughly 100 miles home. I end up putting just about 500 miles roundtrip on the car every weekend. It's tough with all the driving but I'm yet to find better hunting in the northeast outside of these two spots.

RE: How far are you driving, roundtrip, when you bowhunt?
tough for me. my hunting from home is 5-10 miles away.
but when im at school, im hunting about 20-25miles away. but school is 40 something miles from HOME. i dont goto school JUST to hunt, but that puts me 60 miles from home 1 way...drive 40 to school and 20-25 to my spot..back to school, then back home..i live at school sunday night through friday mornings..then come home to hunt here on weekends. my buddies camp is about 110 miles from my house. i went there last weekend..but i left from school and went back to school..didnt make it home till this weekend lol. school makes things nice for me..i HAVE to be there all week and dont have to drive super far to some great hunting. i love my buddies. they think driving 20-25 minutes is TOO FAR to hunt. 16mpg...ya it cost me about 5$ every day to hunt in gas...not too shabby if ya ask me. ya gas prices are rediculous...but when you look at it that way, it aint bad. youd spend more than that to get in the movies or go to dinner....neither of which would come close to comparing to hunting! lol |

|
RE: How far are you driving, roundtrip, when you bowhunt?
Well...I live 120 miles away from my "home", but I go "home" every weekend and my lease is only 7 miles from my "home", but if you count how far I really drive every weekend, it would be about 250 miles, roundtrip. If that makes any sense, whatsoever.
