I'd say 3.5 is "grown-up" and anything beyond that is Mature.

I never want to get to the age where I don't care about sex though Shed33...I think your just still High from your recent success..Kudos.

I'd say a buck reaches his potential at 5.5 or maybe even 6.5. It all depends on his jeans i guess.

442deer, I don't think this is unusual. A lot depends on your area and the hunting pressure it receives. Many areas seldom see a buck reach 5.5 years. There is a 12 point near my house and the way guys are flocking to the area, you would think they were hunting a serial killer. Fortunately, they can't hunt the land I hunt. Nonetheless, they will push the deer hard in the surrounding areas and probably shoot anything they seeover 1.5 years.

I hunt 75% public land that is waaaay overhunted. Of the dozen or so mature bucks I have seen, I think 4 of them were there. I guess y'all helped answer that question for me. I need to hunt the private land I have access to instead of the public land that is convienient.
It's not uncommon to have 18 guys hunting less than 200 acres on the public land I hunt. For you central Illinoisans....... yes, It's walnut Point.
