I shot my second biggest buck on a warm day

From what I have seen, they deer are moving. Crops should be coming out.
I sat in my boat and watch the river bottom last sunday, I saw 5 bucks moving between 11:00AM and 2:00PM. Being I only caught a glimpse, it was hard to say how big they were. One was little guy, he got within 15 yds of me.

NY is as dead as dead gets right now............no one I know is seeing anything at any time of day. I feel like I am out scouting or hanging stands instead of hunting. It is so warm and green it really doesn't even feel like hunting season.............weird.

In six sits this year I have seen 1 big doe and 5 little ones, my best friend has only seen 1 spiker and both my brothers have yet to see a deer. About 125 hours of woods time combined and [:'(]

On the bright side I think when the cold spell does finally hit the deer will REALLY be on the move (I hope). I am going out this evening and all day Friday--Sat--Then Sun morning. Hopefully these lazy SOB's will start walking around soon [8D]

Atlas how has the pressure been in NY?

Here in MI most guys are not even going out. Last saturday I seen 4 bucks. One was 120ish range and pushed a doe around a bit. Two little guys spared a bit.

I think a big boy is ripe for the picking, he's feeling safe. I really think old buckeye is close

Normal..........maybe down somewhat. Lotta guys still holding onto the golf clubs with temps in the 70's. I have mentioned this exact line of logic to my close hunting group...........I keep saying "The longer they go without feeling like they are being hunted, the better"..........we are just not seeing the fruits of that logic just yet. Maybe this evening will be different.

I agree.............but that is about as bold a prediction as saying Michigan would beat App State............nevermind

I'll be out. Taking a half day on Friday, going to drive to Dan's place near Oneonta NY for the Friday evening hunt. Assuming we don't shoot a deer, we then hop in the car and drive another 2.5 hours to my place to hunt Saturday morning, and Saturday night. Then back in the car and a drive to Dan's camp again to hunt Sunday morning and maybe the evening too.

Mobo did you ever think a big buck knows when it is warm hunters are not in the woods. Change it up a bit. Hunt different
And around here, the reason hunters (namely me) aren't in the woods when it's that warm is cause the deer just don't move when it's that warm....

But, you're the jedi master, if you think it will work, well hell......I'll try just about anything at this point. All day Saturday then......on the riverbottom, thermacell in hand.

true, but one swat with those giant fingers of yours kills 52 skeeters a swat
