Which bow for 2008?
Just curious to see what you guys are going to have in the stable for 2008? Most of the newer bows have been introducednow, and it looks to be another great year from most of the top names.
To be completely honest I have no idea at this point what I will be shooting. I've been a "free agent" (by choice) for a few weeks now and have a dren dressed up for at least the beginning of this hunting season just because it was readily available, but may decide to try something new to hunt with before the season is over. I've got an Apex as well that I will probably shoot the upcoming indoor season with just because it's tuned great, already shot my best indoor game with it, and I don't want to spend the time to set something else up right now. So whats it gonna be for 08' guys? What has caught your eye? |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
The 08' bows are out!?[:-]

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I tell ya, I have a REALLY gooid feeling I'll be shooting an Elite this spring. I'm not overly impressed with what Hoyt has done. Nothing big, just a 5fps fast cam, big woooo. I got to shoot an Elite tonight and I have really been reading on the the past few weeks and after shooting a Synergy tonight, I've got a good feeling. ;)

RE: Which bow for 2008?
At least for you Matt. I will have to wait till after the season to get something new. Unless Matt wants to send me one of his. Can't shot them all can ya:D.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I got a Marquis on order for my hunting bow and a 50lb Commander on order for field archery my 07 Commander is going to be my main 3d bow again this year.
But will more than likelyorder another bow after I get back from Australia in Jan. if I have any money left:) |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
Bowtech

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I'm waiting till we get in the '08 Hoyt's and Elite. It'll be one of those 2, but until I shoot them, I just don't know.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
After shooting Matt's Guardian this past spring I'm sold on the new Bowtech line. I've never been so impressed with a bow in many, many years. Last year when I purchased the Allegiance it was very close, neck in neck with all the lines. I chose the Allegiance because it was perfect for me....
After shooting the Guardian, it is heads above any bow I have ever shot. If I'm up for a new bow it's going to be the General at least, might end up with an Airborne because I'm a huge fan of 36" bows, always have been. I'm ruling out the Marquis tho, I trust Matt and Greg's judgement so, if they say that's a great bow, I'll give it a go. |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I'm planning on keeping my Black Ice, but I am going to see if my dad wants to buy it off me [:-](he's planning on upgrading). If that works out, I may try out the General, or one of the new Airborne models. BTW Matt did you get my pm from about a day agoor so.

ORIGINAL: mobowhuntr I'm waiting till we get in the '08 Hoyt's and Elite. It'll be one of those 2, but until I shoot them, I just don't know. I have talked to my shop owner (boss) about Elite's alot lately and I think he's going to get a dealership set up with them. It wouldn't be finalized until the ATA show I don't think. As I said, I shot a Synergy and I loved it, it just felt good in my hand. Even though it was a right handed bow that I shot left handed [8D] |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
Right now the General looks darn good and the Hoyt release doesnt look that great. I might also have to try out a Diamond this year. Right now thought, completly by looks, the General has caught my eye, only whenI shoot them will I make my choice.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I'm buying a bow in '08. I'm looking at either the '08 Mathews Drenalin or an '08 PSE X-Force SS. I would like to hear what you guys have to say about those two bows.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
im a hoyt fan, but i have to say if bowtech keeps on improvin like they are improvin im not sure how i can pass one of these up. Either way im lookin at the 2009 line up before i can upgrade, or else a used 2008?
too far away to dream about either way[:'(] i love the looks of the general.....does the 82nd airborne look similar? |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
the one I'm shooting now. I cant justify spending $7 - 800 once per year, to shoot a bow for 9 months.
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I'll wait to see what Hoyt has coming out ,but I'll most likely buy another Bowtech. Probably the General.
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I shoot a Mathews Switchback right now and I love it, the best bow I have ever shot before. That was until I picked up the Drenalin about a month ago.
I have been thinking about getting a new bow for next year, and figured it would be a Drenalin. However, I am really looking forward to trying out the General to see which one I like better. I tried out the Allegiance and Tribute previously and thought the Switchback fit me better. |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I'll get more BowTechs. And a Diamond. The General is interesting, as are the Airbornes. The Diamond Marquis will have it's work cut out to move my Black Ice over. ;)
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
Bowtech has got a new single cam bow out with a cable roller guard and built in string supressors. It looks alot like my 4 year old switchback.:D:DJ/k guys the new line looks great. I'm going to get a new bow for next season just because I like getting and messing with a new one. I'm going to shoot everyone I can get my hands on.
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I got to shoot the Drenalin and yes, impressive but after shooting Hoyt for more years than I can remember, I like a thinner handle. The Drenalin was better fitting than the Switchback however none of them, even my Allegiance compared to Matt's Guardian when I shot it....I can only imagine what these new ones feel like. I look forward to seeing Matt's General and Marquis next weekend.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I agree Rob I can't wait to shoot one, however there is not a Bowtech dealer in my area that I consider a good shop. That is why I have yet to shoot the newGaurdians. So I have at least an hour drive to get a chance to shoot a General.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
bowtech dealer exactly 4.7 miles from my house, my dad is going to buy an 08'...I'd look more into them, but I bought my Hoyt last season and I'm in college.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I have a SB XT and probably wont get one for another year or so. I have always been a Mathews man, but you guys sure seem to like bowtech.
Wont Mathews have something newer than the Drenalin in 08? When I decide to get a new bow, I am definitely going to giveBowtech a try. |

RE: Which bow for 2008?
A Bowtech Airborne or the new Martin Firecat. I ruled out the General already......not ready for that short of a bow.
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I will be shooting the Bowtech General and the Diamond Marquis this year. I may also pick up the Diamond Rock and one of the Bowtech Airborne models. I have not decided which yet though.
My first experiences..... http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2385769 |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I got too many bows already. Dating from 1965-2006. But who knows if I run across a good deal.
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
Well I plan on checking out the new Bowtech Line-up and anything else that may catch my fancy.
Will I buy? Well if the new bows live up to all the hoopla. I Probably will..But it will be after the 1st of the year! |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
shoot what feels good and what kind of pro shop with service you will get.
Try Darton if you get a chance, they are worth trying, don't overlook. Mathews is a very solid choice. I have both. Both are great. Good Luck. |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I think I am going to get the Fred Bear Truth II or the Done Deal.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
I will buy a new bow after the first of the year. I am really excited about a few from BT, including the 82nd Airborne and General, and the Diamond Marquis. I am also interested in the Truth 2, Martin Firecat and a couple of the PSE's. I will shoot them all and then make a choice.

RE: Which bow for 2008?
Tough question. I just sold my Vectrix XL and am looking for a replacement. Shot the Guardian, General, Tribute and Allegiance at the pro shop today. The Allegiance had the smooth modules and was super nice to draw even at 70 lbs. If I had to pick today, I think the Allegiance would get my vote. I thought the Guardian and General were a little heavier than I liked (which is why I sold the XL). The Allegiance has a little more vibration, but pretty moderate compared to a lot of other bows. Does anyone know if there were any changes made to the Alegiance for 2008?
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
Im looking at either the Hoyt Vecrtrix Plus or Katera XL...cant wait till they come in.
|
RE: Which bow for 2008?
It looks alot like my 4 year old switchback. |
RE: Which bow for 2008?
I will no doubt replace the Black Ice with a Marquix. That is if the Marquix speeds at 28 will satisfy me.The BI is a great bow , but w/ a 28" draw I loose too much speed. OtherwiseI like the Airborne models.
My Trykon will go also. Won't replace it. I don't need three bows.(that's what I'm TRYING to tell myself)I'm keeping the Tribby. |
