Default Tree stand height?

I see alot of post where guys say they are hunting 20-25' up a tree. Do most people measure from the platform or bow level? For me, I say i usually hunt at 15ft (platform height).

I've always measured from the platform. I usually like to get around 20 ft., depending on cover, but 15 ft. is plenty high enough.

I probably average around 15 feet, sometimes a little higher if the tree and surrounding area will allow.

I'm with ya'll...around 15'-18' platform height. If I'm gun hunting then I go a lot higher. Mabye 25'-28'. I don't like to get up too hight with my bow b/c it makes the target that much smaller.

15-20 feet is more than enough.

15' is plenty high enough. Of course it all depends on the tree and cover. But the higher you get the more you start to see theback of the deer and not the best broadside shot you could get by being a little lower.

Holy balls.. if I ever saw a hunter 28 feet up a tree I think i'd keel over right there.. I only go up about 15 feet at most.. no reason to be extremely high, for those guys wanting to get up 28 feet, they should consider buying a plane and just hovering over the woods.. then you could cover LOTS of terrain being up that high..

I like getting up above 20 to 30 feet as of right now I have one stand above 25 feet , reason being the type of land and cover.

I have a few different stand heights ranging from 10' to 23' depends on the terrain!
