I picked the 5th-9th because it's got my favorite 2 days in it, the 7th and the 9th. However, I will be taking off the 1st - 30th. Respect.

I took Nov. 2nd through the 11th off this year. From all the predictions I should hit it just right, starting the seeking phase and my hunt should end just about the time the big boys get locked down. Last year I was about a week late, I had two good days of hunting then all the bucks vanished. Thats what happens during the lockdown part of the rut.

If you call yourlocal DNR office, they will know the rut dates for your local area... it is one of the first phone calls i make after i move to a new area. IE: Nov.9th-11th in Upsate NY, Jan 15-25 in the panhandle of FL.

1st 2 weeks of November is a winner! Best time of the season IMO.

I am from NW Ill. & now live in N.E. Iowa on the Ill/Ia border. This is the start of my 51st year of Bowhunting.
5th through 9th plus a weekend on each end. I have seen in MY AREA the most Buck activity during this time in the past 3 years. Good Luck.
