To be honest, if I had a deer down and someone pulled a gun on me and said he wanted the deer, well I would damn sure give it to em.
And if he wanted me to, I guess I would also skin it, quarter it up, and cape it out. Im not gonna get shot over a deer.

wow, I'm going to have to meet you guys that would fight back a couple of guys pointing a gun at you! You must be real bad asses! You could make more money in the movies than Steven Seagal, J.C. Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, and Bruce Lee combined! I'm gonna get autographs while you are still unknown!

Gimme a break!

If I come up to rob you, and I'm brazen enough to be pointing a gun on you already, I DARE you to make a move buddy, 'cause I'm going to blow your fool head off! I'm in the middle of the woods, heck somebody will just think it's somebody shooting a deer.

Now, unarmed might be a differant story....depends on if I'm outnumbered or not.2 men could still beat you senseless and kill you with yourt own knife.

Keep in mind that in most states, protection of property is NOT justifible in deadly force.

i would not fight over a deer i would be real upset but i don't like getting shot over a piece of meat and if you do get the upper hand and kill one of the guys you risk going to jail which would be even less enjoyable than being shot call me what you want wimp , sissy i don't care but i have some common sense

Although the aforementioned scenario has never happened to me while hunting, It's reared it's ugly head while I was Salmon fishing.

I was fishing a harbor marina with floats and spawn and had 2 nice clipped hens on a stringer tied to a dock cleat.

There were 2 local yokals gulping whiskey, pounding beers while trying their damndest to snag something other than themselves.

Outta nowhere the sky opens up and a torrential rain comes pouring down.

The 2 knuckleheads beat a path to their truck.
I gather up my tackle and head to my camper to grab my rain gear leaving the stringer behind.

I'm in and out of the camper in minutes, only to see the knuckleheads truck missing along with my stringer.

Now I'm pissed. But I also know they'll be back. I'm also keenly aware the DNR keeps a constant vigil on violators at this site. Gary the local C.O. is a close friend.

So I go back out, set my lines and wait.

About 45 min. later the 2 bozos come flying into the marina slide to a stop and take my stringer with the 2 fish and toss it in the water and tie it to a post next to them.
They break out their rods and commence snagging.
Gary pulls up behind them, gets out of the truck, confronts them, and points to the stringer. Next thing they're pointing at me. Gary waves me over and says the knuckle heads say it's my fish on the stringer.

I tell Gary I don't know what they're talking about...

Next the Sheriffs Dept. shows up and they're being put in the car with cuffs on.

DUI (left keys in the ignition), Fishing with-out a license, and Snagging.

Poetic Justice,,,,I love it!

I never said I'd do it when they were looking at me, remember ya goota turn your back on me eventually and I carry concealed. After I draw my Smith I will get your attention.

Keep in mind this isn't about stealing, it is about armed robbery. It's either me or you, Bud. Guess what, I might go down, but so are you!

WELL, HERES MY 2 CENTS WORTH. FROM GROWING UP IN THE BIG CITY(N.Y.CITY)I HAVE LEARNED SEVERAL TRICKS THAT MAY DISCOURAGE ANY TYPE OF PHYSICAL CONTACT.

THE BEST DEFENSE THAT I HAVE EVER USED(THIS IS NO B.S.) IS THE "LET THEM THINK YOUR CRAZY" DEFENSE. I WAS APPROCHED BY TWO GENTLMEN IN THE WOODS, ON PUBLIC LAND, WHO HAD DECIDED THAT THEY WANTED MY ATV. THEY WERE ARMED WITH GUNS, ME WITH A BOW. WELL, I AM NOT IN THA HABIT OF JUST GIVING AWAY MY PROPERTY THAT I WORK SO HARD TO ATTAIN. ALL OF THE SUDDEN I DEVELOPED A SERIOUS NECK TWITCH, STARTED TALKING TO MYSELF, STARTED PAWING AT THE GROUND, AND THEN HAD TO ADD A SMALL AMOUNT OF SALIVA TO THE CONVERSTION. WE WOULDN'T YOU KNOW AFTER ABOUT THREE MINUITES OF THIS AWAY THEY WENT.

THIS IS A TRIED AND TESTED TECHNIQUE.

BOTTOM LINE - DON'T CREATE THE SITUATION BUT IF YOU ARE CONFRONTED WITH A SITUATION BE SMARTER THAN THE CONFRONTER. VIOLENCE IS NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER.

Twenty years ago I took my little brother on his first shotgun hunt in Michigan. He shot a nice buck, I can't remember how big, a six probably and it ran out into a corn field. A truck was going by and saw it go down. A guy got out ran to the deer before my brother got to it and tagged it. We let it go, but my brother did track them down. He stopped hunting the day he started.

thundermug, one thing to keep in mind when you make your move, be absolutely sure what your actions will be. And do not hesitate to complete your counterattack. Be prepared to kill if weapons are used. Hesitate or balk, have second thoughts or doubts, and you may be breathing your last. And I see no consolation in watching an attacker die as I do.
