RE: rattling
100 % agree. Light tickles, single click grunts, 1-2 minute sessions every half hour and see what shows up. I play the vocal game from opening day to the last day.
Early season, short bleats (double tone), click grunts and the sound of young bucks sparring. Should bring you in a curious fella. More times than not, it is a young one but, ya just never know when Gpa is lurking about. Pre Rut- Be aggressive and so will they. Rut- I primarily stick to 3-4 different bleat in heat calls, mono to triple tones, drawn out. I don't grunt to much and I never rattle. In my experiences (although some will disagree) when your'e busy rattling, the bucks are going the other way looking for the doe. Post Rut- Again with the bleat calls but, now I rattle, most does are out of esterous so bucks are gonna come looking for the few that are left. I also use the buck growl this time of year to bring in the bigger more aggressive deer....... Use what you can, omit what ya want. I am in no way a professional deer slayer LOL. Good Luck and God Bless........ |
