the rages are awesome. ive got a pic on the team 17 thread for the contest of a doe i shot the other night. also shot a buck and a doe last year. insane damage. the doe from sunday night bled in a 6-7 foot span! that is unreal.

the shot is totally possible, my first archery deer ever i did the exact same thing, i was up 30feet or more cause i was on a steep hill so one side i was only up like 15ft. shot down at the deer and the arrow cut the spine and broke some ribs as it went into the heart and lungs and out the bottom of the deer.

i think its funny what people think of the wholes left by rage heads, rocket heads have been doing that and more (cut size) for years. but now you get to pay an extra ten bucks for three heads and then have to mess with them. it doesnt take really any effectiveenergy to open good over the top heads, the big cuts are what take up the energy.and as for entry holes all of mine have been the same as the exit, maybe cause i use thesmaller onesbut ive used 1.5" in the past. if you like them great i hope you never have any problems.but someone said other mechs will open in your quiver and walking in brush, i dont think so. not unless you jam them in enough foam to snap the rubber bands.someone also said big deal that they might open in flight, it is a huge deal this is a big head and will cause eratic flight esp if the blade open loose and at different legnths. to anyone still using them without rubber bands please do it, no one has reported ill effects and it may save wounding or missing a deer.

I got my Rages at Cabelas in Hamburg, PA they had a ton of them. I guess I will try the rubber band trick to keep them in. Still not excited about the fact that I have to rig them after paying 40 bucks for them. The practice head flies straight and true n does not expand during flight, however I have yet to shoot a real one at a target just the practice one. But it seems as if you bump the head or shake it around they fall open. They may cut like a chainsaw, but thats only if you can keep them in till the target, if not I assume I will be cutting brush, instead of deer.

I know the Rages were being recalled from ones made between march and may of this year I believe. I guess they were having them not open all the way.. Might wanna check the website to make sure.

I picked up a pack today to see what all the hoopla has been about. I brought them home and opened the pack and to tell the truth I think it is a marginal design. Obviously there have been some very dramatic results with them but I quickly put them back in the package went back to Bass Pro and exchanged them. I wish you gents the best with them but I will stick with fixed heads.
