Simple question......Did you achieve what you wanted to (hunting-wise)in '06?

Are you on-target for '07?

no. I had gotten 8 point bucks the previous 3 years so I was holding out for another 8. the only buck I had in range was a small 5 point. I did get 3 does though.

My goal for this year is to just get a buck overa 4pt. my season is kind of hosed (surgery tomorrow) so my hunting time will be severely limited.

06 was a fantastic year for me. I got a doe on oct 7 in MI, the Illinois buck in my avatar on Oct 27, and a 7 point back home in MI on Nov 14.

Three with a bow is a great year for me. I'd be happy with two does this year.

I usually work hard scouting/setting stands/prune tree, etc. But when hunting season comes I let things happen as they may, sit back and enjoy. Unfortunately, I missed the first two weeks of the season due to a freak storm that went though the day before bow season, I think it was Firday October 13, 2006. But I did end up with this nice doe, dressed and hanging two days she weighed in at 140 lbs.

My season in terms of deer harvesting was not even close to what i was hoping for. Only managed a doe. The 2 bucks i was holding out for i found out after the season was over that they were killed, oh well. This year im planning on wacking atleast 5 does and 2 bucks. So far im empty handed though. I better pick it up.

Did not meet my goals in 06, they were to shoot one Doe and a mature buck, we are allowed one buck, so im picky. Killed the only Doe i shot at, a double with my son, he got his to Passed a ton of 1.5 and 2.5 bucks, seen three mature bucks, two biggest were to brushy with no shot at 27 yards, the smaller of the three was at 25 yards i took a shot at only to hit a limb mid flight snapping the arrow halfway to him. thought i had an opening and did not see the limb, just glad it totally missed and did not wound.

Yes I met my '06 goals of killing a doe and a mature buck. I accomplished both. Here is my 130'' class 12 point from '06.

My goals for '07 are the same. Here is the guy I would like to let the air out of. I actually saw him yesterday evening which was IL opener. He came out on the opposite side of the field I was hunting with another mature deer and fed for a few mins. Then they begin sparring pretty aggressively. He actually ranthe 130" 8 pointer off. the whole time they were about 30 - 40 yards out of my effective range. I'm pumped to say the least.
