Age This Deer

RE: Age This Deer
It looks like we're split down the middle on this one. Hopefully I can get a few more photos of him before the season is over so we can make a better judgement call. I do have one other picture of him, but it's after dark and he's far away from the camera with another buck. You can just make out that it's him and that's about all. I'll see if I can post it up here in a little bit.

Okay, here's the kicker that may change some of your votes. He's on the left, with a buck I would consider 2 1/2 for these parts on the right.
Now tell me what you think.

RE: Age This Deer
For an IL deer he is a 1.5 year old in my book. Too thin in the bodyto be 2.5 and anarrow rack. 2.5 year olds in my area weigh 150-170 pounds. I don't see him tippiong the scales at that weight.

It depends on what state this deer is from. If he's from Iowa, I'd say a 1.5 year old. If he's from PA, I'd say he's 2.5. No offense PA guys
I've seen spikes rebound the following year and look very similar to that one.
Overall, I think the deer in the trail cam pictures is a 1.5 year old. And as for the oneyou harvested last fall, he is clearly a 2.5 year old. I've never seen a 1.5 year old deer with G3's like that and somewhat of a neck to boot.2.5 yearold all the way, so don't feel bad. Your initial thoughts when he waswalking through the woods were right in my opinion.
