On morning sits or all day hunts I'm in my standone hour before it begins to get light. I like things to settle as I melt into the woods.

Right!, I'd imagine the darkness is afraid of you and the light hurrys in.. [8D]

lpv77, as long as your not disturbing the deer and their movement going in, you only need to be there 5 minutes ahead of time. It's all about timing. You just need to be there before the deer.

very true Rob. I am hunting a new spot tomorrow for opening day. I dont know what to expect or what the deer are doing exactly yet. I will go an hour early and cross my fingers. Its tough there are no food plots. just wood and houses.

It depends on the area and how long I plan on sitting. If I'm doing an all day hunt I'll get there about 45 minutes before first light.

In some cases, I've been as early as 1.5 hours before first light. I like being in there real early to let the woods settle down. But it makes for a long sit.

When I worked nights sometimes I'd get out of work at 1 am, shower up, and then head to my stand and sleep until morning. It's amazing what you hear in the woods in the middle of the night.
