Default My hunting month of September at a glance

Just forum fodder....with my Sept. in the books. Season opened on Sept. 8th.....and here's the overview of my season, so far.

In 17 Sits.....I have observed the following:

62 Deer....of which, 32 were Does, 6 were bucks (though only 3 different buck) and 22 were fawns. I have no way of knowing how many times I saw the same does and fawns.

25 of these deer have been in bow range......and I've taken 3 does out of the herd.

Many of these deer have been observed from a distance.....and several on land I can't access them. Overall, though.....it's been a tough but productive month.

Keep at it Jeff, your doing the right thing with your herd right now.

Here's my Sept overview,

1 day, 2 sits, 12 deer. 6 were doe, 4 were fawns and 2 different bucks.

Of the 6 doe, 2 were the same 2 twice...

Things I've learned:

1. I'm not as good as I thought I was.
2. I know I have what it takes to learn and improve
3. I hunted too much
4. I hunted too much in the wrong places
5.I won't hunt the "right" places for a WHILE (yesterday's observance showed me my great spot WILL be "great".....if I stay out of it). VERY productive sit with no deer in range
6. I have to learn to reign my nerves in, better
7. I like the rage BH
8. The deer are "starting" to get on the acorns.
9. I still need to take does.....TARGET does.
10. I still think the bucks will be where the does will be. It's a waiting game.

Great job on the Does GMMAT. I've been out only 3 times all morning stands, have not seen a Deer yet. Days I've been able to hunt the weather has been terrible( too hotand too windy ).

Now thats a "self" reality check!!!

I don't know you, but from what I've seen in this forum, your better than most who have been hunting as long as you! You seem eager to learn all you can, and that in itself will get you far!

It's funny, it seems the more someone learns, the more they realize, how little they really know!!

Keep on stickin' em!!

Two eveningsits, 2 shots, and 2 dead doe. I need to bring my shots down a tad though. I feel Sept was good to me. It just gets better as the season progresses. I live for the rut!

I hear ya, Early....I'm trying to get my doe work done before the rut kicks in. We'll see. The treestand/feeder theft I experienced, today, took a little of the wind out of my sails. I'm still going to hunt the area......just with the climber.....which is fine.
