top: 170-190" avg big buck: 120-140"
175-225lbs150-180lbs
4.5 -5.5 yr 3.5-4.5
ive taken 5 "BIG" bucks for my area the last 6 yrs and havent gotten a p&y yet but 2 of them were over 6yrs old both weighed over 180lbs and one i had hunted for 3 or 4 years, if it werent for there racks starting to decline id have two p&y bucks and last years buck was real closebut maybe this year. sad thing here is the big ones are killed mostly with guns because those nocturnal big boys cant hide from all the orange running around the woods in NE PA

it's kind of hard to generalize, i'll just give what i have actually seen. now this is the top of the top end. my dad shot a buck in 80 or 81 that has 11 scoring points, but should of had 15, it had blow worms get into the end of it's main beams which stopped growth and left pits right at the g-4's, i figure he should of had 10-12 inches more on each main beam. he also had at least 2 broken off drop tines that by looking at the base of them should have been 6-8 inches long. he still grossed in the 170's. the most unbelievable part is his weight. we had scales that went up to 275 lbs. he bottomed it out and from his shoulders up were still on the ground. we guessed him to field dress around 340 or so, aged at 7 1/2 yrs old. a true giant and once in a life time deer. since then, i have seen a 200" plus buck each decade, i wonder if not a direct relative of my dad's buck. there were a lot of similarities, especially the one we had running around in the late 80's. I have also seen 2 bucks on the publiv ground that would break the 200" mark, one typical and one non-typical. of all those giants, i only heard of one of them being shot, it went at almost 209" yes these are the rare exceptions. by generalizing though, you'd be darn lucky to see a 220 pound, 4 1/2 yr old 165 incher. it is nice though to dream about the giants of years gone by that have graced the property you hunt. by the way, i hunt in effingham and shelby county in central illinois

I'm curious as someone asked earlier..How often are these pie in the sky numbers attainable? I mean come on, I see us spitting out numbers of whats possible..not what's realistic. Someone could say 7.5 yo 200" 300 lbs.. is possible.
If you guys are holdng out for 5.5 ..165-170 class deer..Two things come to mind.
A) Many people are holding out for deer that aresimply not in thier woods.
B) Our values quickly change..because based on previous bow contests..I see very few (if any) who have shot bucks in their Stated "Top End" range.

Out this way, if you can consistantlytake a 2.5 year old buck, you are doing something right...
A really high end buck here will be 3.5 to 4.5 years old
