RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...
Dude I want to go elk hunting with you guys. You all just tagged an elk with a bow. Everybody got an elk. Thats an accomplishment right there. Congratulations, it looks like the experience of several lifetimes.

Sounds like an unbelievable week of bowhunting, great work and enjoy those steaks.

RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...
Elk hunting on both ends of the day while fly-fishing in between...doesn't get any better than that. Congrats
BTW, did you guys pack-in and camp (horses, atvs, shoe leather) or did you camp close to the road and hike-in to hunt? Thanks ..and way to go |
RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...
Congrats, it looks like you guys had a great time and lots of action.

RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...
Congrats on the elk, and thanks for sharing. 7 yards, must have been a great adrenaline rush.
Has been on my to-do list for a while. |
RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...

RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...
Thanks guys, it was definitely a good time. We were on public land and yes we did all of our own calling. I did have one friend that lives up there come and call for us a little as well. And yes... the camo worked very well;).
It was kind of like turkey hunting, except for the fact that it sounds like a horse running to the call. Someone PM'ed me and asked about the broadheads that we used... this definietly won't help settle any of our "what's the best broadhead" debates but here it is. I was shooting a 100gr. Magnum Slick Trick on a 28" Axis 340. At seven yards it cut clean through the ribs on both sides and penetrated through the off side shoulder and stopped just under the hide. I sharpened the blades on the head and stuck it back in my quiver... no damage whatsoever. Trey shot a standard 100gr. 3-blade Muzzy on a 26.75" Axis 400. At under twenty yards, he went through the ribs and into the offside shoulder. The point was rounded off and all three blades needed replacement. Tony was shooting a 100gr. 4-blade stinger on a 27.5" Axis 340. His results don't really count because he hit a twig which deflected his arrow in the artery in the back. But I guess it still did the trick... |
RE: My Wyoming Elk hunt...
Wow Dustin those pics really make me want to head to Wyoming! My BIL just got back from a speedgoat hunt out there. We will both be trying to get elk tags next year.
