i have only lost one deer with bow or shotgun, two years ago i shot a button buck,it looked like a smoke shot on the point of the shoulder,i saw the arrow while the deer was runnin and was sure it was all over, blood was scarce,i looked for 3 hours that night and 4 hours the next morning and i assume it was just a shoulder shot and the deer lived

I've lost 3-5 deer over the 25 years that I have been bowhunting. You hunt long enough and hit enough deer it is bound to happen.I have also missed a few over the years and I can tell you one thing you will agonize more over a hit deer that is not recovered more than you will a clean miss.It really tears me up tp hit a deer and not make a speedy recovery.Couple of the deer I did find ,but a little too late.I keep hearing about the anti's looking for stuff to use against us on hear, but what about all the deer you see laying along the side of the road after being hit by a car,man what a wasteand thats just the ones that don't make it off the road to die.

It happens! But find a local with a good blood hound or tracker and give him a quarter. He would love to just work the dog and may not even want any meat. Good post in the local free classifieds. Who knows, you might have someone close. We have a guy with a blood hound on the adjacent property and he loves to work the dog. Found a few for us. Never asks for meat. Just wants to hunt rabbits on our property when deer is over.
