RE: God's curse upon deer hunters is......
I have found they help keep me on my toes so I am constantly listening and surveying. Last Saturday, I heard slow and deliberate dragging through the leaves and stood up slowly to grab my bow. As the noise neared from behind, I dare not turn around but instead attached my release to the string loop and prepared to draw back. At that moment he stepped out in front of my stand. A magnificent beast. The fattest racoon I've ever laid eyes on. There would have been backstraps and tenderloins for weeks. But I let him pass.

Yeah, I'm hunting in LA...season opened last weekend in Area 3.
parishes. That's a haul.
huntingson has a good point - a lot of times the squirrels will give away the deer. Anytime I hear squirrels
going at it I pay more attention to that area.
