Default A friendly reminder!

I am new, to the site, but not to hunting or archery...

A local man fell while hanging his stands this past weekend, he has a family and kids as well. He did not tell anyone where he was going to be. Ultimately, he fell, breaking his back, and was paralyzed from the chest down. It is sad to hear, but the same thing happens each year. So please, when you go hunting or hanging stands use a lineman's belt or some other type of safety harness to prevent injury. If not for you, do it for your family or loved ones!

Jeff - I'm assuming you're somewhere here in Northern IL? You wouldn't by any chance be talking about the gentleman who worked for Ryland homes would you? I got an e-mail from a member of our hunt club a few weeks with a very similar story in it. Very, very sad situation.

In any case, this is a great thread as a great reminder to everyone that no matter how many times you've climbed up and down trees and in and out of treestands that it can happen to anyone at any time. Better safe that sorry so always wear your safety belt and use a belt when hanging stands. Hunting is great, but it's certainly not losing your life over.

Anyone who needs a lineman belt for hanging stands should check out http://www.treehopper-llc.com/and buy one today.

Justin,

I am unsure of whom he worked for, my hunting buddy told me after he found out through the local Fire Department. I am located in Northern IL, around the Yorkville area. I know the man hunted about 2 miles from where I hunt, and on a prime piece of property, but he lived in Shorewood. The guy was out there for a day and a half because no one knew he was there!
