RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
I’ve got to be ready for the 15th early doe season. While I have seen a few good size shooter bucks around my areas, I really don’t carry much faith in scoring on one at the beginning of the season. They are off their summer patterns and still mostly nocturnal.
|
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
:D:D I am ready for the day. I have had a nice 8 point hanging around my stand at least 4 times a week. Nice size tracks in the mud by the pond too. Can't wait for the opener.
|
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
Yea as soon as they rub the velvet off they go nocturnal at my farm too! I get nice pictures all summer long then I have trouble finding them in season!
|
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
Yep, I'm definitely ready. Stands are hung, bow is sighted in and tuned, most of my work at camp is done.Only thing Istill have to do as of now is go through inventory on everything for my hunting pack, wash all my clothes and store in scent proof storage, slightly move 2x stand locations, setup 2x ground blinds that will stay up all season, and tonight I have a new gibblet string/cable to install on the hunting bow. My girlfriend thinks I'm absolutely crazy because I can barely sit still with all the anxiety.
I truly can't wait to get into the woods this year. This morning when I walked to my car to drive to work, the air smelled like fall. ![]() |
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
awsome matt... My wife always tells me im crazy and i guess i am when it comes to hunting!!
|
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
Heh, too funny.
I was actually in York this last weekend helping a buddy put a new roof on a house he just bought.Saturday morning we got up early to work at 6am (started early to avoid the heat), anyhow I was on top of the roof and saw a heck of a buck eating corn out of his neighbors garden. This was right off north sherman street in the suburbs!! |
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
lots of deer around there...especially down around the new central high school

RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?

What county you in ROb? Im in york pretty good hunting here if you have acces to some land. I got some pretty good bucks roaming around I got them on my Cudde Backs. Im stoked cant wait.
|
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
I ruptured my Achilles tendon a month ago and I'm in a non weight bearing cast at the moment. It's a lengthy recovery.
I'm 2 hours north of you in Lycoming Co. Great hunting here too. Matt / PA is down in your neck of the woods. |
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
I was up there grouse hunting a few times. We have a camp in clinton county cant wait for bear season every year. So you dont see too many deer up there in the big woods huh?
|
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
i gotta be ready for the 15th as well.
mostly ready. my replacement muzzy blades aughta be here tomarrow...but im at school till friday...gotta replace the blades i been practicin with and pick me out 3 good arrows for the quiver for the time being. then i gotta wash all the hunting clothes and get them ready. pack is packed. knives are sharp. drag rope is ready. just a few minor details to take care of friday when i get home and i will be ready to roll. got a lock on hung just for this early doe hunt. got no faith on seein a good buck in there so i figured i will try to take a doe or 2 from the spot. wierd gettin ready to hunt this early. i usually get ready early but moving back to school threw me out of whack for this early season. |
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
One of my hunting spots got sold to a big company and I can't hunt on it.
Frustrated, but ready. |

RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
I am pretty much ready except i am still waiting on a millenium treestand that I ordered. The only other thing I have to do is wash and store the clothes.
Rob I really hope everything goes well with the healing process, and hope you make it in for first day. |
RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
I'm fairly ready. My usual spots are set up, but I just recently acquired a new property and I'm waiting on final details on two others. I just got done scouting the one and have some work to do. I'll probably use the early doe season for some in season scouting on those.
I've already been out in NJ, but the deer are still on the soybeans on another property. It's that time of year.:D |

RE: Pa. archery hunters...you ready?
17 more days. The weather outside today definitely reminded me that fall is around the corner. Even the air smells different.
