90 plus!

It's finally here,...... the 8th that is. The season starts on Saturday, so I payed careful attention to the weather. It's predicted to be no different than the past 5 days...........90+.
My biggest concern is the walk to my stand. It's a good 300yds from an overgrown fire run. I have this problem every year in the early season.....It's just too damn hot!
My question to to you is:....What to do you think or doabout the sweat???
You know it has to contaminate your clothing. Scent blocker suit or not. Half way through my walk i'm usually drenched with sweat. Hat, shirt, face andgloves.....drenched. Forget about what happens when you finally get up in your seat......25' plus! WhenI finally sit down and get situated, there's pine bark chips stuck to my face like natural camo. The sweat runs off my ears like a water faucet onto my shoulders. It takes about a good 45 min. to cool down and level off.........that's when the mosquitos settle in!........................It's a good thing I hunt the wind! [:-]

So do you think the sweat matters, and does it ruin the effect of those dynamite scent blocker suits???
TIS THE SEASON gentlemen,.... and good luck.

Sure, sweat is scent....take Scent Killer spray and Scent Killer Towels that you can buy, carry a plastic bag and when you get to and in your stand, descent again.
Also, wear as little clothing as you can get away with walking in, carry everything keeping it all dry. I carry a backpack and strap/attach everything to it and dress in the tree. The only thing I may have on is my Base Slayers "underwear" (pants/shirt) and then dress in the tree, descenting per layer.

I am a sweater too. I used to have sweat dripping, sometimes even a steady flow. I learned to slow down and hunt closer stands. It is going to be 90 + Saturday also. About the mosquitos, get a thermacell. Best thing ever. One other thing that I have found, Bass Pro has a bug suit that is thin mesh and cheap. I wear shorts and a t-shirt with this over it. The thin mesh material lets every breeze through and helps with the bugs. Very light and effective camo. I would rather hunt the wind in thin mesh than hunt in hot Scent Proof clothing. I'd be drenched in 5 minutes and it wouldn't work real well.

Don't sweat so much, really. I've cut out sodas and cut WAY back on alcohol, lately....and I've actually noticed a difference in how much I sweat (less).
Saturday morning......my wife will drive me down our road to my entry point......and I'll walk real slow in from there (she's a keeper
). Saturday afternoon.....I'll probably go early and just take my time as best I can. I'm gonna be sweating, though. I'll just dress VERY light and take some e3 to spray with.
Good luck to everyone. Be safe.

Good advice G-man. On hot days take 4 times as long to get to your stand. Whats the hurry. You will still sweat some but not near as much. Take a clean cloth and poor some of your water on it and wipe down. Put that rag back into a zip loc bag. It will cool you back down quickly with the breeze.

#1 dont wear your hat to you stand. # 2 you have togo to your stand in as little clothes as possible.
I do as Rob does and get dressed at the tree. I noticed in my case ,if my upper body is pretty "naked" I am usually ok and wont sweat.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes,...... Saturday I can take my time,(taking the day off)and I'm sure that will help some. I'm justa sweating machine. The more I think about it the worse it gets.
I should cut back on the brews a little(that would make the wife happy, as well as my newly morphosedgut!....Although I blame that on the marriage
)
In all seriousness, I'm an afternoon hunter........some of the time. Due to my workload in the busy season I usually have to fight the clock to get to my stand before the deer move. Being fortunate enough to have my own business I can usually sneak away in time to hurry in the woods by 2:00 for the afternoon sit. After Oct.30, work slows down as well as the heat....and then I could get to gettin...while the gettin's good. Anyway, yes, sweating is an issue, and rushing to get in the tree doesn't help. I'll keep some of those methods in mind.........but really......... Can't wait till the frost is on the pumpkin!
