Default My 80 yard shot [ on a bucket]

I was playing around at my in-laws. I looked out by the garden an saw a white bucket. I bet my brother in-law I could hit it. My father in-law's range finder said it was 83 yards to the bucket. Now, it is important to note that my bow doesn't have a 80 yard pin. In fact, my 60 yard pin won't go low enough. I set my site to high[I'll fix it next summer. It is to close to season to jack around with my bow. Plus I won't shoot past 30 yards at a deer.] So just to recap; I am shooting 80 yards with a bow set up to shoot 50. My first shot went past the bocket by about 15 feet. At that point all of my witnesses left. I went back out about an hour later . I couldn't get that bucket out of my mind. I shot three shots at the 30 yard target. Then ,for whatever reason, I turned and took aim on the bucket again. I triggered my release and watched my arrow fly. It looked like the arrow went past the bucket again. Then I heard a smack. I thought I hit a branch or something. I walked out to get my arrow and found it stuck in the far side of the bucket. My shot had so much arch to it that the arrow went into the bucket and stuck in the far side. I was so proud of myself I had to tell some one. I had no witnessesto verify my shot. I get the feeling my father in-law thinks I move to 50 yards and shot the bucket. It doesn't matter I guess.I justthought it was apretty cool and wanted to tell somebody.

Hey, not to be nosey, are buckets in season and was it a legal "bucket" for an 83 yard shot? Ya' know, a 5 gallon or 50 gallon? Just wondering? Fun to shoot at stuff like that! Good Job!

Nice shooting standsleeper. After a few rounds of shooting that far it sure makes those shots less than 40 yards seem much easier.

An 80 yard shot on a bucket? That's highly unethical. I bet if you didn't have dogs to track it, you would have never found it. You barely hit the vitals. Ridiculous.

(I'm being sarcastic)

Good shot.

i like pushing the limits...just started myself. never shot past 40 till a couple weeks ago. sighted in a 50yd pin and love it. this weekend was a local archery clubs field day weekend. they have fun shots you pay to shoot and can win stuff. they had a 3" bullseye on a 67yd elk. the old timer running the shot talked me into atleast tryin. said you wont know if you dont try. 50yd pin a bit above it, hit the dirt. 50yd pin on its back, just hit the elk(bull was on its heart) 50yd pin a hair above the back..SMACK! dead nuts 3" bullseye at 67yds. i was one of the few to hit it...should put a couple more in it and got my name in there a couple times.

next target i went to was a 60yd shot at the same 3" bull...but it set off a cannon when you hit it. my 2nd arrow nailed it. stinkin cannon didnt fire though..they had the charge messed up[:@] still got my name in that raffle too.

my buddies couldnt believe i hit a 3" bull at 60 and 67yds. oh...and the pingpong ball on an air system to make it float up and down at 20yds. that one was fairly easy

still didnt win anything though...never got a call sayin come get your prize...but proved alot to the buddies

That's nothing, I shot a house at a 150 yards away. The owner even brought me back my arrow. I don't know why he didn't think it was a good shot!... It went half way into his living room
