when buck hunting im strickly hunting for bone, and will sometimes give the meat away if its an older deer, or have it ground into salami. I like to take a couple does for meat.

There's a lot of meat on a big mature buck.

But I also shoot a few does to do my part in herd management.

I shoot a few does early in the season to fill my freezer and to give to people that ask me to kill them a deer.

Then I leave them alone so I will have a few around when they come in heat. Then I start hunting for another set of antlers to put on my wall.

I like hunting for the meat, also here the deer herd is not that big. I will go for a buck regardless of the size of the rack...ThoughI have to admit a nice rack on the wall looks good.

Neither. After 20-something years of hunting, I still hunt for the love of the hunt, and I'm thrilled to kill either a buck or a doe.

Both. I like shooting deer, so I shoot does. I give a lot of the meat away and in the places I hunt, the deer need thinned. I also hunt for a real nice buck. I don't think the 2 are exclusive in any way for me.
