we see probably at least 30different buck a year. this year i would guess there arearound 3 to 5 in the 3.5 to 6 only because we have been seeing most for a few years its just hard to connect on one. i hunta lot of fields and their hiding place is in the neiborhood yards[:@].

Actually mobo....my background's civil.....so I knew that.;)

I'm trying to come up with the 2 per acre formula I'm being accused of having, here.

Valor:

Haven't you seen my avatar? I have to move monkey bars and swingsets to clear shooting lanes. My ground blind fits neatly inside the jungle gym.

Where have you been?

hopefully a lot of 'em will come from all over after all the does in my area. Last year on stand in one sitting. I saw 25+deer...3 of which were bucks...1 dominant buck and 2 lil guys. The big boy got shot during gun season. and a couple more were seen in the same section during gun season...I don't think all deer have a permanent address ;)

Tell us how many mature bucks are in your area, buckeye. I see you sidestepped this one until you thought you could slide a dig in on me. Transparent?

Valor....Please give me your formula for the 2 per acre. Hell I'm wondering where they all are, too.

How many acres in a square mile????? Isn't it 640?
Nodig bro.... Honest question.... I thought I already went over this in a PM before. Want me to rewordthe PMfor you so maybe you will understand what I said? These accusations get tiresome.

If you really didn't care why would you rebut his posts and call him Einstein etc?

I did not side step anything. I hunt many different places not the same place every time. I may hunt up to 12 different locations.... Only two of them I keep good tabs on over the summer. The one place is in corn this year and I have yet to get a mature buck on cam, although I know(hope) someare there..... The other place I posted many photos more than once with 4 there that I know of. I keep tabs on these two places because I believe they are my best properties with the possibility to locate a giant buck.

I really can't answer your question because I do not pretend to know....... I have no idea. If you knew every animal where you hunt, hunting would be a whole lot less exciting, IMO anyhow.

If a guy's opinion is........ you're a snotty-nosed, punkMI fan.....and you really did't care what he thinks......wouldn't you at least make sure he knew you were really an OSU fan? I could care less what the guy thinks of my hunting area or how I hunt.....but if his "logic" is completely flawed (go do the math).....then there may be a way to show him the error of his ways. If he still thinks I'm hunting a petting zoo.....after doing the correct math.....and finding out there's less than 1 deer PER TEN ACRES.......then so be it. I'll send him a harvest photo from the see-saw.

Who said anything about knowing every animal? I asked you to guess how many you were hunting. And....if you didn't care....you wouldn't have a game cam out there.

The guy said the way I hunted "disgusted" him....and he used flawed logic to make his assessment. Imagine if someone were to say.....Oooooh...."There's a P&Y behind every tree in the Midwest". Wonder what that "logic" would entice from the throngs? After they were educated.....if they still thought that....then so be it. That's the way I feel. If you don't think people are passionate or concerned about how others view their hunting (many are)....just start a thread about "location".

Tough to come up with a definitive answer. I hunt 8 different properties ranging in size from 8 acres to 800 acres. Over the years of hunting the same properties, trail cam photos, sightings while scouting and on stand, harvests, etc.... I would guesstimate 3-5 per square mile?? That's what I know of each year on the piece of land (800 acres) that I put my most effort into each year. I'm sure there are probably 1 or 2 (or more) that have slipped through the cracks undetected all season as well. It's a good thing to know what's out there, but the rut changes everything anyway.

As I would, NY. I don't claim to know what's it like anywhere else......but your "guesstimate" mirrors mine.

And about those Yankees......get off our backs!:D

I can't say how many mature bucks are in the areas I'm hunting, but I can tell you that I will not hunt in an area that does not have a mature buck in it.

On my 500 acres, I'm going to guess 2-3 with another 2-3 that will cruise through during the rut.... 2.5 months of firearms season does not allow for a heap of 3.5+ yr old bucks... They are rare and getting one in bow range is next to impossible...

RE: How many mature bucks are you able to hunt in your area?

Im fortunate to hunt some good spots... so far this year Ive got 3 deer that are definately at the 4.5 yr age...
probably4 -3.5 yr olds.... BUT due to the abundance of food in my area this time of year im seeing far less deer than I will see in late oct/nov. thru winter... As of last Jan I had9 deer that would have been 2.5 yr olds in the low 110 range of score and up, not to mention the older bucks... so im keepin my fingers crossed that most of them show up when food supplies run low...

But for now Ive got my sights on 2 - 4.5 yr olds in the upper 140s...
