The herd of deer I hunt is free-ranging over a square mile or better (anyone with half a brain could discern that from my posts in this thread).

Spread 55-60 deer over that area.....and it is what it is.

Over two deer per acre free ranging? Are you serious? Where in God's name is this deer Utopia? I live on 10 acres, hunt 1800 acres, and own 50 acres within a 1200 acre area. That would mean 20 deer should be around my house all the time, 3,600 deer should be roaming the hunt club, and 100 deer should be hanging around my property. Heck, there ain't but a million deer in the ENTIRE state of Virginia. Enjoy your kill. You'll have earned it.

I have no idea how many 'mature' bucks are in the areas I hunt. It's out of my control, I just hunt what I think is there. I pretty much only get one maybe two encounters a year, so I have to make them count.
